Wisconsin meltdown puts Trump on track for convention fight [Manafort threatening to quit]

The relevant part of the article:

Behind the scenes, Lewandowski is fighting to preserve his own power and to box out Paul Manafort, who was hired last month to lead the campaign's delegate corralling effort. "Corey and his people know the knives are out for them," said one source close to the campaign, referring to Manafort as a "pretty experienced in-fighter."

On Saturday, Lewandowski went as far as to fire a young operative named James Baker, who'd been recently put in charge of its Colorado campaign--he'd arrived in the state less than 48 hours earlier--because he'd been communicating with Manafort after Lewandowski instructed him not to do so, two sources with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed.

Manafort is scheduled to meet with Trump in New York Wednesday morning and likely to threaten to quit if he doesn't see more cooperation, according to one source. "If Manafort walks, this thing comes apart," they said. "And some of the people close to him are ready to walk."

The landslide loss in Wisconsin could finally prompt Trump to make changes in the campaign structure, even if Lewandowski retains his title as campaign manager. "This campaign has outgrown the team," one high-level Trump supporter said. "Hopefully this wakes up the candidate, because Lewandowski can't handle it from here."

“Once Trump smokes Cruz in NY will “sources” be saying the same thing about Ted Cruz’s campaign?”

They will do what they did for all of the other states.

They will just pretend like they didn’t exist, or are full of liberals, or are full of fake Christians and fake conservatives.

“Donald is 8-2 in the last 10 primaries. He has a huge lead in delegates and popular vote. He will crush Ted in NY. But his campaign is falling apart because he lost WI?”

Just campaign rhetoric. Not a lot of truth contained therein. Some states are loaded with morons, and Wisconsin is one of them.

Trump will have to give the ‘Girl Beater’ a different job.

“Meltdown”
“Waterloo”
“Beginning of the End”

I’ve never seen a meaningless victory blown out of portion to such a degree. These guys are nuts.

You’d think Trump wasn’t still crushing Cruz in the delegate math.

haha

The state that elected Scott Walker is now the “belly of the establishment beast”?

“Good. The sooner Trump is gone, the better. “

Yeah that bastard!

How dare he beat the Gope, bring millions of new people into the process, and bring our issues to the fore.

Dont you know that Cruz is the real hero of the election! Did you see how he got rid of Jeb....um, or Rubio, darn...or how he made Islamic terrorism the central issue of the....and immigration...ok, how about how he rocked the media on their rear....oh wait...

Well he says Jesus a bunch of times, and has a country twang in his voice, so that’s all we need to beat Hillary! Right?!?!?!?

I swear the right is its own worse enemy.

I’ll be glad when Donald hits 1237. Then he can stop saying how the states he lost were stolen, did not matter or was not suppose to win.

You have to admit, Donald is so classy. Win or lose, he loves to make fun of his opponents.

Named sources would be nice

Oh, I don't buy stories like this with unnamed sources.

But since when do some of you Trump supporters care about unnamed sources when the stories are about Cruz??

You could be right, but I still think it is tougher to track where voters moved from an election FOUR YEARS ago than from what they told pollsters FOUR DAYS ago. The fading of Kasich is a story sub-plot which nobody is taking about.

Wisconsin GOP = Lyin’ Ryan, Rinse-Repeat & Walker = GOP-Establishment who declared war on Trump and “We the People”

It’s not rocket science....

The article doesn’t say that Manafort threatened to quit, just that it’s “likely”, though they don’t say according to whom.

That is the problem with Cruz and Cruzites...they just want
to “win” by any means possible even if it means allowing yourself to be co-opted by the globalist gravy-trainers in the Republican establishment who do not want to change a thing and the American People can drop dead for all they care.

Fairly sure the people of Wisconsin didn’t elect the RNC Chairman, so that leaves yo with one.

Not only had the latest polls shown Cruz winning but the Wisconsin campaign was rigged from the start. The entire GOP establishment power brokers, anti-Trump activists, democRAT protestors, millions of dollars in anti-Trump advertising and the entire mainstream media were actively campaigning to beat Trump. This is no meltdown of the Trump campaign. This is the opposition forces ganging up on him in one state to try and defeat him and it worked. If all of these efforts had laid siege on the Cruz campaign instead, Cruz would have lost too.

So this wasn't just Trump losing on his own. This was everybody and his mother out to pile on and ensure his loss. Left to his own devices, he might have lost anyway, but it was not exactly a level-playing field when his own party was trying to stab him in the back.

Tacking “Lyin’” on the front of everyone will soon become as meaningless as racist. It simply identifies you as a Trump supporter who mimics his language...

“I guess “The Donald” did not get great people to run his campaign...”

Au contraire . They have succeeded beyond their original wildest dreams. What they did not anticipate was the level of extraordinary attacks from the amassed GOPe, “conservative” talk show hosts and media, the multiple “SuperPACs,” and dishonest games being played to deprive him of a fairly won nomination.

Now they do need an ‘insider’ like Manafort to offset that vicious GOPe squad. I hope Lewandowski can recognize how far he’s bought this campaign and also the need for an expert on the delegates game the GOPe is playing, not for Cruz, but for their eventual anointed nominee. Cruz is merely a pawn in this game.
