Since Trump and Cruz will both push their delegates to keep rule 40 in place, only Trump or Cruz (with 2 more wins) can have their votes counted. I believe the chances of a contested convention and three rounds of voting are increasing. Cruz seems to have done a better job of organizing slates of delegates. Mr. Trump is making the same mistake many do during the primaries, and trusting the state GOP elites to select delegates loyal to him.

1) No. They will toss Rule 40 immediately.
2) No, it won’t matter how much Cruz has “organized.” He will be 700 delegates short of winning.
3) As Rush said, there will likely be a (successful) rules movement to disqualify anyone who hasn’t made the 1237, and go with someone “new.”

I keep repeating. THERE. IS. NO. WAY. CRUZ. IS. THE. NOMINEE.

It will not happen, no matter how much it “appears” the GOPe is “supporting” him at this point. He might get a veep slot—but (I repeat myself) he could have had this from Trump a long time ago if he had behaved.
