You are correct. In all countries, the bar for who gets to vote is set way too low.
Only those who have a stake in the system should get to vote - like those who pay federal tax greater than a certain value, and those who have a certain amount of real estate, or those who currently serve in the military as their full time job.
Otherwise, the low information, easily-fooled and easily-cowed voting masses will force their stupidity on the nation and destroy it.
