@oreillyfactor get Geraldo off he is terrible# Cruz have to change channel — Linda Trogdon (@linvtro) April 8, 2016

We’d tell Geraldo to check himself before he wrecks himself, but it’s way too late for that.

Because this happened:

OMG Geraldo just called Cruz anti semitic. — Scott (@ScottyE_FL) April 8, 2016

Well, not in so many words, but yeah. Basically.

See for yourself:

Transcript:

Rivera: Aside from the stinking anti-Semitic implications that I see in that whole “New York values,” money and media coded message that he put out there pandering to those Iowa voters […]

O’Reilly: If he says “New York values” to a bunch of Evangelicals, it’s not anti-Semitic. He’s pointing to de Blasio, to Cuomo, to these, to the progressives crew.

Rivera: Why didn’t he say that? He could have very easily said—

O’Reilly: He could’ve said anything. Why didn’t Trump say that David Duke was a bad guy?

Rivera: He could’ve very easily said not “New York values,” he could’ve said “Democratic,” “liberal,” “free spending,” “welfare,” there’s a million ways he could’ve said it that he did not. He did not.

O’Reilly: Come on. You don’t have to do that, either.

Rivera: He chose that very cunningly, and now he’s gonna pay the price.

And that's exactly the problem that has been festering since at least McCain-Feingold's stupid Campaign Finance Reform that went in the wrong direction — restricting, instead of liberalizing campaign donations — and that has not gone away with the Citizens United decision, it just allowed creation of SuperPACs but it is nowhere near of removing the advantage of very rich self-funding candidates who can "loan" money to their campaigns in primaries and suffocate most worthy but cash-strapped candidates, particularly with many candidates running and donations being spread among them.

Look at the one-richer-than-the-other candidates Republicans had recently — McCain, Romney, now almost/possibly Trump? What's the next stop — "successful, self-made, many times richer than Trump, one-time-Republican" Michael Bloomberg? Or better yet, Hillary Clinton donor Warren Buffett, who is self-made, has 15-20 times more humility than Trump despite being 15-20 times richer — they were worth about the same $40M in 1974 — doesn't sue or gets sued by many people and created $billions of wealth for other people, instead of destroying $billions of other people's money?)

Newt Gingrich was right "on the money" in 2014 about the checkbook politics and what needs to be done:

I'm a Trump supporter, but Geraldo needs to get over himself!

Everyone outside of New York (I was born in NY and spent the first 30 years of my life there, moved to Texas as fast a I could) understands perfectly well what Cruz meant by his "New York values" comment. New York is rightfully perceived as a state overrun with government nannies and gimme-thats, snobby, uber-liberals, and gun-grabbing, big-brother types. Their philosophy plays well in other liberal states, but in conservative country it's a rallying cry to fight.

Funny, I don't see people getting their panties in a bunch when folks mock Texas (our drawl, our way of life, our values); that may be because we are slightly laughing at the Yankees and praying they never come here.

If Cruz had referred to Maryland Values instead, as a Marylander, I wouldn’t have been offended, because I could figure exactly what he meant. Trump turned “NY Values” around by referring to the police and firefighters on 911.

So what is Rivera saying, exactly, anyhow? Is he saying that Jews have a lot of money and own lots of media? I thought we were above stereotypes.

George Cockburn seemed to believe that it applied to me, perhaps with the same connotation, when he re-titled my essay.

It’s all cool. India can potentially be a more fitting friend for Israel than the best American President. America is big, clumsy, and not always sane or nice. These past eight years have been the proof of the pudding of what it means to give America our back during a period where America, as represented by its government, was utterly insane and mildly vicious. Time to develop back-up alliances. Time for EMA.
