"it is not unreasonable to ask whether Donald Trump actually profited at the expense of our veterans?

You need to understand that there's a reason for this - expenses. Since a third of Donald's self-reported net worth is "the Trump Brand", he has to protect The Trump Brand by charging for it's use.

While the chance that Donald Trump personally profited, or even attempted to profit, from fraud respecting these veterans is probably remote, it is quite possible that the accounting was sloppy, or the expenses which were deducted from the veterans portion were inflated, or there is simply inertia in the bookkeeping process.

Trump's history of being accused of outright fraud and sharp dealings entitles him to no deference in this matter and screams out for an accounting.

In any event, these questions are certainly relevant in judging a candidate one of whose planks is that he will clean up the Veterans Administration. If he cannot manage one simple event why are we then to believe that he can reform and manage the vast veterans administration?

Why bring up leftist IAVA founder Paul Riechkoff? He’s a Democrat Party tool and self-promoter. Looks like Fox fell for his con of IAVA being a viable national organization.

More like a handful of leftists and other malcontents.

PS: My son was one of the first American soldiers into Iraq in 2003. He wouldn’t get anywhere near Riechkoff.

This is an article for the unsophisticated.

I have worked and continue to sit on the board of two charities where we collect millions of dollars in donations, each year.

It is laughable that anyone who is knowledgeable about fundraising would posit that 60 days after the fundraiser is a long time to collect and disperse funds, particularly if the funds were raised for outside organizations that need to be vetted.

And like most respectable foundations there is a grant application process. It should not be a “free for all”.

Again, the Cruz people lap this stuff up due to their lack of sophistication and inexperience in these matters.

Any of the money sent to the Trump Foundation will of course be disclosed in their 990.

This is the Cruz Crew talking points for today... what a bunch of robots.

Here is a proposed list of organizations that are considered for disbursement.

FLASHBACK: NEW YORK PAYS HOMAGE TO VIETNAM VETERANS (Trump consistently pro-veteran)
NY Times ^ | May 7, 1985 | Jane Gross
Posted on March 28, 2016 10:40:10 AM EDT by 20yearsofinternet

The centerpiece of the commission’s effort is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, a glass-block wall, 70 feet long and 16 feet high, which is etched with excerpts from 83 letters - including Sergeant Calamia’s - that were written by or to the soldiers who served in America’s most unpopular war.

‘’It’s not just brick and mortar,’’ said Donald Trump, the real-estate executive who donated $1 million of the $2.5 million raised by the commission, which is also charged with financing programs for unemployed local veterans. ‘’It’s very much a living monument.’’

‘’I was a very strong opponent of the Vietnam War,’’ he said, ‘’but I also recognized that the people who went to fight were great Americans. I always thought they got a bad shake in life and never got their just recognition.’’

Last night these veterans basked in that new-found recognition. ‘’We answered the call of our country, and when we came back home we were kicked back into society almost like criminals,’’ said Bob Moore of West Volusia, Fla., a member of the Air Force security police in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. ‘’A phenomenal change has happened over the last few years. You got a whole bunch of people here coming out of the closet, so to speak.’’

‘’To see a city take it upon itself to do this!’’ said Mike Milne of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., who has been confined to a wheelchair since his Army tour in Vietnam and Cambodia. ‘’And in downtown Manhattan. It’s unreal. They really pulled a coup.’’

Where is your evidence Trump has done anything wrong here?

My evidence? Why do you presume to put a burden on me to provide evidence? I explicitly stated "I make no allegations of fraud… I simply asked the question"

All of this was plainly stated in the reply to which you are responding:

Previous allegations of fraud against Donald Trump are relevant. Nevertheless, even with the benefit of all the allegations against Donald Trump which I have specified and many many more, I made no allegations of fraud on his part, I simply asked the question.

Let us assume that Donald Trump is innocent of committing personal fraud in this affair. We do not know if any fraud of any kind has been committed or, if so, by whom. It does, however, raise questions of competency. Where is the money? Where is an accounting?

Is there simply inertia in producing an accounting? Is there sharp dealing by the Trump campaign in inflating expenses thus reducing the share for the veterans? How was all of this handled? Were expenses even deducted, if so how much?

At the very least, questions of hypocrisy are raised and certainly questions of competency: Donald Trump has bragged that he will clean up the Veterans Administration yet it appears that he cannot even competently manage one single event on behalf of veterans.

Let's get the accounting and see what happened. Meanwhile in view of this fiasco and in view of serial charges of fraud and bankruptcy, Donald should shut the hell up about how he is going to fix the Veterans Administration.

I don’t care who you vote for. I want to stop Hillary Clinton from getting anywhere near the levers of power. Bonus points if Trump blows up the Gop. Go pout in the corner with Mark Levin for all I care.

Key points:
  1. Donald Trump claims to have raised $6 million ("raised" amount, not "pledges").
  2. 19 of 22 groups reported receipts.
  3. Those 19 groups have received only $2.4 million from Trump's foundation or associates.
  4. Of the other three charities:
    • One has received nothing, but has not completed the paperwork.
    • One declined to report a number.
    • One did not respond to the survey.
  5. $3.4 million is unaccounted for. There appears to be a yuge amount of administration expense, fraud, waste and abuse.

>>I don’t care

You might be rethinking that when you’re up to your arse in Trump’s Russian Oligarchic Alligators.

But, as Comrade Clintoon was surely aware when she and Billy encouraged Trump to pretend to be a Republican, by then the damage will have been done.
