When I go in to look at a handgun, it’s always pointed in a safe direction. If the store is busy, that safe direction is down.

And I ALWAYS ask if it’s ok to dry fire the firearm (so I can check trigger pull).

That makes complete sense and is what I would do.

Posting other tips on “how to” instead of what NOT to do is probably a good idea.

Two excellent points.

Never, NEVER cover anyone with a firearm. Remember, “Every firearm is always loaded ALL the time.” Even if you know it’s not loaded, NEVER point it at anyone. It’s rude, and someday it MAY be loaded. That’s how accidents happen. Bad accidents.

My shop has a range and used to give you a fistful of ammo so you could try before you buy. ☺
