You’ve said what I wanted to say - much more eloquently. Trump had no ground game - politics is a contact sport with the contact here bring organization-voter relationship building. It’s how Obama got those idiot new voters to vote for him and why they disappeared during the mid-terms.
Politics is not exclusively a popularity contest.

Thank you for that observation. Those who don't grasp the game, as it has always been played, as Reagan had to play it against the GOPe and Bushites, yet he outsmarted them and prevailed, well then they just don't know what they are talking about and its little more than sour grapes and excuse-ism. I went to a primary this year back in the states where a guy all decked out in Trump stickers and badges started raising quite audible holy hell about being denied entrance because he had forgotten to register as well as bring picture ID. To him, in his hat and cowboy boots, paranoidly screaming about how it was 'all rigged by the damned establishment' it was clear au contraire what a royal dipshit he was making about his ownself and how he reflected very poorly on his candidate. I welcome people new to the political process but they have to also learn what it is and what it is not.
