According to prosecutors, former Republican speaker of the House Dennis Hastert molested at least four boys.
A separate investigation involving financial misconduct brought these accusations to the forefront. Hastert pleaded guilty last year to structuring transactions in such a way that he could avoid reporting them. CNN reports that the transactions involved $3.5 million which he used to pay one of his accusers to stay quiet.
Hasterts actions reportedly occurred in the 1960s and 1970s during his time as a wrestling coach at Yorkville High School in Yorkville, Illinois, where he was once named Illinois Coach of the Year for leading his team to the state championship. Each of his victims, one of whom was 14 years old at the time, was on the wrestling team.
Hastert acknowledges that as a young man he committed transgressions for which he is profoundly sorry, the former House Speakers attorney, Thomas Green, told CNN in a statement. He earnestly apologizes to his former students, family, friends, previous constituents and all others affected by the harm his actions have caused. Green then added that Hastert has already undergone profound humiliation and public shaming and has recently been in poor health.

The root issue is the explosion of pornography. The rise of sexual deviancy in the nation can be traced to that evil influence.
We have a winner!
You have liars/lawyers to thank for all that.
It is why he was made Speaker of the House. Compromised. Owned.
But where did all the money come from? Pay offs I’m sure, but get the details. FOLLOW THE MONEY
Very good point. Doubt anyone is appointed to high office these days e.g. Roberts, Kerry, Biden, General Staff officers etc., who doesn’t have that little something in their past that forces them to do what is requested.
My cynical grandfather-disabled WWI vet used to say, “never trust a doctor, a lawyer, or a priest”
I guess a grand-cynic offspring might add, “or a House Speaker”
His attorney apologized for him. It’s totally gutless.
He did put a hole in these souls.
I’m guessing none who got his money will be giving it back.
IRS will probably want taxes on it, though.
Wait: Is Jeff Smith the Frugal Gourmet a child molester too?
All my heroes are dead to me now.
Firstly, he’s dead. Secondly, yes, he was going after under-age boys and he was ruined for it. Just google it. I had him speak when I ran a speaking series out of a private club in NYC ten-twenty years ago. Not a pleasant guy.
I believe Foley was innocent, in that his “boys” were all of age.
