“So what did they expect? Did they expect the party that they detest to simply roll over for the people who hate it? To go away meekly because “the masses” are out to destroy it? Whether they should have done that is irrelevant — expecting them to do that is just naïve.”

It’s not the party, it’s Ted Cruz. As I said, Cruz lost and is now trying to make Donald Trump lose the general election.

“It is pretty clear that a lot of his supporters don’t really like the GOP as a party at all, and that was true even before this primary season. They actually detest it.”

It’s republican voters who hate the Republican Party. I guess you missed the tea party, the election Eric Cantor lost, etc.

Ted Cruz has no more "lost" than Ronald Reagan "lost" prior to the 1976 Convention. Reagan entered the 1976 Convention without enough committed delegates, and while having won fewer states, fewer delegates, and fewer voters than had Ford. But he didn't give up either. There was a floor fight, and a lot of backdoor politicking for uncommitted delegates before Ford finally managed to secure the nomination.

Look, I lean Tea Party myself, but the truth is that there are only 70-odd members of the House Freedom Caucus, less than a third of total Republican House members. If Tea Partiers were a majority within the party, they'd probably be a majority within the GOP Causus as well.

The unpleasant truth is that most GOP voters are not Tea Partiers.

Well said.

And some of us have detested the GOPe ever since they took the side of illegal aliens against Americans back during the Prop 187 fight in 1994.

If people wonder how we ever got the huge illegal alien population that’s now in the country it’s because we have had two parties of treason ruling us for a very long time.
