Cruz uses party rules to pursue delegates. Here’s what Trump thinks of that.
Washington Post ^ | 4/11/16 | David Weigel

Donald Trump used his first campaign rally in western New York to attack Sen. Ted Cruz for something the Texan happily boasts about: mastering party rules to elect his delegate slates to the Republican National Convention.

“They’re trying to subvert the movement,” Trump said to thousands of voters crammed into a frigid airplane hangar Sunday. “They can’t do it with bodies, so they’re trying to subvert the movement with crooked shenanigans.”

The Rochester rally was only Trump’s second in the 14-day New York campaign, and his first since Cruz swept Colorado’s 34 available delegates in a series of conventions. Trump’s hastily assembled delegate-chasing operation, which had been optimistic about the state, bumbled through a series of votes and came out empty there.

In an interview Sunday morning on “Meet the Press,” Trump’s newly promoted convention manager, Paul Manafort, accused Cruz of “Gestapo tactics.” The Cruz campaign, which describes its convention wins as proof of momentum, responded with mockery.

“It’s no surprise that Trump’s team will lash out with falsehoods to distract from their failure,” said Cruz communications director Alice Stewart. “We have earned our success by working hard to build a superior organization.”

“I think Trump should drop out of the Republican nomination since it's clearly rigged against him and just go after the general election. Pull a Perot, but do it successfully.”

First things first. Before going third party Trump must: become likeable, learn how to negotiate a deal, and boost his own energy level.

I think so, too.

Trump will win the GOP nomination now.

Trump will win the GOP nomination now.

Cruz stepped into big time.

Colorado will prove to be his Waterloo.

Cruz has a lower name recognition and has the opportunity to define himself

Yup, and what we are seeing, at least most of us, is a person that I am never going to vote for even if he ran as the sole candidate. He now has the face of the GOPe which I detest. He can ride his horse and tilt at as many windmills as he wishes but not with my and a host of others votes. If he gets elected, it would be more than a miracle because in the general election his “I work the rules” approach is not going to win against a party that knows how to work beyond the rules.

The GOPe is figuring they will kill off both grass roots future candidates and conservative candidates in one smack. They have been annoyed since 2010. With they investment in power at stake, they would run Mao if they thought he would take down the vestiges of the tea party, conservatives, and the will of the people at one time. I hope they all rot in hell.

You mean like Obama did so I suppose you voted for him too.

Trump did, in 2008. But no, I didn't.

Regardless, stop whining. Your guy--who could become my guy, if he wins the nomination--needs to figure out how to win. That's what a President has to do.

The RNC set up these rigged primary rules to elect Jeb Bush without voters.

Since Bush has joined Cruz, that is how they are doing it.......

Exactly!!!

Spot on to your entire post, btw.

Cruzbots like to attribute the fraud and cheat to how smart the Cubanadin is.

Nope, he is being helped by the Bush team to con the voters out of their choice.

Ted is so stupid he can’t see that he is going to get burned in the end.

He had a choice to go and support the people, his greed for power made him go all in with GOPe.

Follow the dirty money. Soros wants a Hillary v. Cruz match so all he has to do is turn the money spigot. That will cost less and insure his victory.

I don’t blame Cruz for understanding the delegate rules in any state and figuring out a plan to get them.

Donlad’s plan to only get delegates through winning statewide elections worked up to a point but those opportunities are getting fewer each week. I think he really didn’t understand the primary delegate process when he announced and didn’t and have any organization in place in each state that is needed. Now it’s too late so he’s tapping into the resentment the people have for the the politicians while he hopes his name calling and blame games will get him some stragglers while his new guy tries to organize the remaining states.

Careless Don forgot to setup a nationwide delegate team last summer, and now bitches because his opponents know and follow the rules.

Grow up Donald.

“Pull a Perot, but do it successfully. “

Perot did do it ‘successfully.’ His intent was to get Bill Clinton elected. Trump would do the same for Hillary, whether or not that was his intent all along.
