This is the second piece of pablum from ‘UMass’ I have read on FR today...it is on a par with ‘Yes, College Should Be Free’...what utter garbage

Women just need to carry around PC Principal’s Sexual Consent Form. That will stop rapists.

“If a man is told he cannot attend a social event without a large group of women, what is he left to do but unnaturally and forcibly seek their companionship?”

If this collection of words actually means anything it isn’t obvious to me...

I have to agree with humblegunner on this one. The headline is ONLY true if you change the definition and working parameters. So, don’t let liberals and especially college students change the definition and then build his thesis about the change.

Charlie Giordano can be reached at crgiordano@umass.edu

Sounds like Charlie is trying to make himself popular with a bunch of dumb coeds who think they'll be safe with him

Of course he manages to get it wrong: the destruction of traditional Judeo-Christian moral restraints on male sexuality (by secular society at large) and any conception of chivalry (by feminists in particular) has resulted in a return to the base behavior of male mere primates or Fallen humanity (take your pick on the basis of your philosophical and religious commitments concerning human nature, though whether you arrive at your understanding of human nature from Genesis or Darwin, the results in the absence of traditional moral restraints are depressingly similar and not pretty).

If anything, alcohol reduces sex drive. It does switch conversation from the factual lecture that bores women to the light shallow conversation of shared feelings, and it is why it is called a social drink.

UMASS Amherst has 22,292 students in 2015-2016. 49% are female. That is 10,903. He claims 35 rapes per year per 1,000 women. That means 381 rapes per year. Why would any women go to UMASS Amherst?

Is the ability to write in the English language not a requirement for publication in this fine journal? Have they no editors? I couldn’t get past the first paragraph.

No, we just changed the definition of “sexual assault”.

Murders would spike if we started considering jaywalking as “murder”...

Since history’s earliest recordings, mankind has more often than not chosen to ignore the issue of sexuality rather than discuss and embrace its inherent presence in the individual’s everyday life.

Not true believers of Torah, and the Old and New Testaments.

One hopes Mr. Giordano is no more than a sophomore at UMass, since, alas, his tedious, poorly researched essay is the very definition of sophomoric.

I don't think humans have "repressed" their sexuality....

its an appetite. Keep giving a diabetic carbohydrates and he'll crave more...

the problems with we humans is that we don't like to do things in moderation...food, alcohol, sex...

we are no different than animals if we don't see the wisdom and yes, the morality, of living good lives with discipline and moderation...

the people that lived these lives of "repression" were certainly happier, more successful.

the latest info suggests that our young people are burnt out on sex....the males have less testosterone and fewer sperm...they don't or can't produce children or find a willing mate to do so with....

Humans have repressed their sexuality for centuries, be it for religious, moral or other reasons.

Yeah. Good reasons. If we want this society to finish falling apart, what better way than to have those not already rutting like animals start to do so.
