In case you think there is still any life in the Constitutions division of and limitations upon the powers of the federal government, consider the prospect of diaper subsidies.
That excellent watchdog over governmental duplicity and lawnessness, Judicial Watch, reports here about the Obama administrations determination to further extend the Nanny State to include diapers even though Congress has said no to this bad idea. Twice.
Back in 2011, a bill ostentatiously named the Diaper Investment and Aid to Promote Economic Recovery Act was introduced by Connecticut Representative Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut. At least, the House had enough collective sense to realize that giving away diapers is not an investment and the bill did not pass.
Late last year, after renaming the bill the Hygiene Assistance for Families of Infants and Toddlers Act, she tried again, and with the same result.
Now, its quite bad enough that someone who has taken an oath to uphold the Constitution would think that diaper subsidies are properly any business of Congress. Article I, Section 8 sets forth all of the powers of Congress and they do not include spending money on diapers or any other kind of personal need that citizens might have.
Yes, over the last century, the limits on congressional authority have been stretched beyond anything that the Founders would recognize, mainly because the Supreme Court has held that the General Welfare Clause is an open-ended grant of power, contrary to its intended meaning. (For a clear explanation that this clause was meant to be a further limitation on the power of Congress to spend money rather than an unrestricted invitation to spend on anything the politicians regard as a good idea, see this article by law professor John Eastman.)

Don’t forget tampons. They’re trying to give those away too.
Gotta turn out the Julia vote in November, dontcha know.
And people laugh when I tell them the Federal Reserve is the absolute foundation of the nanny state and progressive-left politics.
This and 1000 other social engineering schemes would be impossible without massive debt and fiat money.
Will they be “preloaded?”
Only Democrat politicians are stupid enough to call spending on diapers an investment.
But, then again, they called Solyndra an investment as well, and its ROI was was just as crappy.
If these people are having babies but cannot afford diapers, the solution is surgical sterilization at delivery of the child or implanting an IUD or Norplant until they are no longer dependent on the state.
You have to be careful which ones you get
When they say “8 to 12 pounds” that’s really all they will hold!
The one on the right looks more like Spock’s mother.

How many of our elected officials are really undead rockers in disguise?
Someone married and mated with that ugly thing.
Will the old people be getting them?

Phew! Just in time too because our colleges seem to be infested by babies now- delicate little snowflakes that soil themselves at the slightest thought of diversity or opposing opinions
