Is Donald Trump being cheated out of the Republican Presidential nomination?

Without a single vote being cast by Republican voters in Colorado, Ted Cruz won 21 delegates from the state’s seven congressional assemblies and 13 delegates at the state convention on Saturday April 9th, 2016. While the Colorado GOP establishment changed the primary process in August 2015 – the opposition to Trump delegates has supporters of the businessman up in arms. You are missing the big picture. GOP rules by design were not about enlarging the GOP voter base, regardless of who got all the delegates. The GOP rules made picture perfect the libs accusation The GOP are elitist snobs.

What’s you point?

That is where 4000 duly elected delegates were seated.

They heard Cruz speak, and if Trump had the guts, he could have been there too.

Not 2002, August of 2015

EDITOR’S NOTE: This story was first published on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015 at 2:06 p.m. Please see Angry Donald Trump blasts Colorado GOP results as “totally unfair,” published on Sunday, April 10, 2016.

Colorado will not vote for a Republican candidate for president at its 2016 caucus after party leaders approved a little-noticed shift that may diminish the state’s clout in the most open nomination contest in the modern era.

The GOP executive committee has voted to cancel the traditional presidential preference poll after the national party changed its rules to require a state’s delegates to support the candidate who wins the caucus vote.

The move makes Colorado the only state so far to forfeit a role in the early nomination process, according to political experts, but other caucus states are still considering how to adapt to the new rule.

Not 2002, August of 2015

Colorado has been using the caucus method for choosing their delegates since 2002. Up until this year, they also held a straw poll at the precinct caucuses, but the results were not binding - no delegates were allocated based on the straw poll. Last year, the RNC said if they held the straw poll, the results had to be binding, so they chose not to hold the straw poll. That was the change made in August of 2015. It made no changes to the way the delegates were selected.

When you set aside the Trump vs Cruz argument the real issue here is one of legitimacy. Both Cruz and Trump are running against the establishment and the anti-Washington backlash this election cycle highlights the disgust by voters of the status quo where everything seems to be rigged against the law abiding middle class. So for Colorodo to embrace a system that does not include a primary election to send pledged delegates to the convention based upon election results smacks of cronyism and business as usual and therefore illegitimate no matter what system was adopted months ago. Remember the old axiom of “the appearance of impropriety”?

Without a single vote being cast by Republican voters in Colorado who didn't bother to show up for the caucus . . .

There, fixed it.

GOP rules just ensured which ever lib gets the DIM nomination, they will win Colorado come November.. Your celebration is very short sighted, and not even about stopping Trump... Colorado GOP rules for voting are not going to be viewed as popular except in small minorities.

There’s 1 million Republicans sideline while 4000 insiders “listen in their thousands”. It’s relative.

“It never crossed his mind, despite the fact that this is the way they have selected the delegates since at least 2002? That requires major league ignorance and incompetence on his part. And this is the guy you think should be in charge of the country?”

It never crossed the mind of Coloradan voters either. You know, we were all under the false assumption that this is America! Well, don’t worry none...Trump and his supporters are going to fix this either with ballots or bullets...

Why should the people of New York have to vote, just give the delegates to Trump.

Give the delegates? Who is going to give them? Colorado convention reps voted on Colorado's delegates. The convention reps themselves were voted on by caucus goers. You want to scrap all that and have some all-powerful delegate tsar 'give' the delegates away? Is that some kind of NY values thing?

It was a conscience decision by Trump camp not to participate here because the system was rigged since last year by 24 GOPe members

Tell the truth. It was a purposeful decision by the Trump camp because they did not think they needed Colorado to win. It is pure arrogant incompetence.

Too late to fix it with ballots. Trump was a no-show. His organization showed utter incompetence throughout this whole process. Cruz was in it to win. Trump was in it to whine.

In 2008, the last open presidential contest, both parties moved the caucus date to February. Then-candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney captured most the vote in the race. Rick Santorum won the 2012 GOP caucus.
