Corker passed 98-0 and was the right decision as it was the only thing that could have possibly stopped the deal. Corker allowed the feckless eunichs in the GOP to have voted the final deal down and stopped it but they refused because they are Republican't.

While I do disagree with Cruz here, it is over a matter of practice not principal. If we are going to negotiate trade deals with other countries we need to have one party negotiating it on our side. It is just a terrible negotiating tactic to have 435 voices all negotiating a deal at the same time. It won't work. In principal, the President SHOULD have Trade Promotion Authority and the congress should be able to approve or deny the deal. In practice, this President should not be given that authority. He has proven he can't be trusted. The person who HAS enabled TPP through a failing in principal however, is Donald J. Trump. He has been donating to and helping get elected the most virulent anti-freemarket, anti-U.S., anti-prosperity Senators and House members in the country. It is Trump's donations that have put in place the people who have negotiated and will vote YES on the evil TPP itself. Not just TPA.

Yeah, Cruz is "with" the GOPe in the same way that Reagan was "with" them in 1980. If your definition of "with" is dragging them, kicking and screaming to the right.
