Donald Trump's tiny violin
Washington Examiner ^ | April 12, 2016 | Washington Examiner

If the Republican primary process were designed to produce an exactly proportional result based on voters' choice rather than a winner, the party would have been doomed to a contested convention almost from the start.

Donald Trump, who has failed more than any other GOP presidential front-runner in recent history to unite the party behind him, would have no chance of securing the nomination, for he has won only 37 percent of primary votes so far.

Keep this in mind as Trump gripes about how his opponent Ted Cruz secured all 37 delegates at the Colorado convention last weekend. The process is certainly imperfect, but it made clear which candidate knows how to run and organize things and which one doesn't.

Wherever strange or arcane Republican state party rules have benefited Trump, such as when he secured all the pledged delegates in one state while winning only 33 percent of the vote, he's just fine with that. But when the rules hurt him, or he fails to learn or execute a strategy to exploit them, he whines about unfairness. Pretty unimpressive.

On Drudge is an article about billionaires funding the anti Trump fight. makes me think I might have more to fear from the anti Trump candidates than Trump. I was for Cruz till I became indifferent of Cruz. I don’t think I’ll sit out the general election like the Goldwater era which gave us four more years of LBJ.

I’m more convinced than ever that Trump planned Colorado to happen the way it’s happening. Trump knew all about the CO rules - he said so in this press conference yesterday. He’s said over and over he likes to be unpredictable - and talks about the comment a business associate said - “We couldn’t figure you out”.

Many people in Colorado was very angry at what the GOP did with the rules last year. Here’s what the former CO GOP chair said;

Former CO GOP Chair: Message We’re Sending Is “Your Vote Doesn’t Matter

And here’s the perception;
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/search?m=all;o=time;q=quick;s=Colorado%20GOP

Colorado GOP has lost the perception battle, big time. That cat will never be put back in the bag.

The worst thing to do in a war is underestimate your enemy - that gives the enemy a HUGE advantage. Trump is perfectly capable of the strategic thinking required to analyze and execute exactly what is happening in the fallout of the CO fiasco. Bet on it. People don’t get here;

And signing 22k paychecks on the front with out serious stragetic thinking skills.

Writers and the media call this whining. Trump calls it building a rock solid base of supporters - the media and Cruz don’t get it.

In WTA states delegates should be proportional to reflect the will of the voter. Trump has 22% more delegates than his vote %. This is not democracy it’s a farce... Donald should support the democracy he his crying for in Colorado by releasing his extra delegates.

All TDS ... all the time ...

It is an attempt to counter the pro Trump DS. Hard to do, most Cruz supporters have left the premises.

Besides, the article is dead on.

Most observe the irony of eccentric state rules that at first benefitted, but now hurt Trump. That leads to the shallow analysis that Trump is a typical school yard bully/cry-baby. That is ironic, but not as important as the underlying irony.

The thing that is being demonstrated rather than bragged about, is that Cruz is the better “get it done” guy. He is out-managing the builder of “fabulous” businesses and buildings that require minute integration of local codes and approvals in order to be executed. Cruz is beating him at what he is supposed to best at. Losers always cry foul.

Is Cruz kinda hard to like? Yup. But, he does give the conservative branch of the party its best chance to finally get things back on track. I really don’t know what Trump will do and I haven’t seen him accomplish more than a bunch of free publicity and huge rallies resulting in @ a 1/3 of the vote and 45% of the delegates.

Hate to quote a liberal; but, “where’s the beef?”. Start figuring out how to play by the local rules, Mr. Trump, and I might start believing that your business acumen can translate to the even the most basic elements of representative democratic politics and government.

P.S. I will vote for whomever gains the nomination. I’m not dumb enough to the the commies actually win.

Cruz’s 545 delegates comprise 32 percent of all delegates awarded to date, while he has won about 28 percent of all votes in the primaries.
