Heidi Cruz Met on Campaign Trail by Superstorm Sandy Protests

New York victims of the 2012 storm object to Ted Cruz's vote against relief funds.

MINEOLA, N.Y.—Heidi Cruz, the wife of Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, was met at a campaign event by victims of Superstorm Sandy who protested his opposition to a 2013 bill doling out billions in aid for storm relief and clean-up.

People from Long Island and southeast Queens, which were devastated by the October 2012 storm, said the Texas senator’s vote against a $51 billion aid package targeted to New York and New Jersey to recover from the damages disqualified him from the presidency. The 2013 aid bill passed anyway.

New York Republicans vote in their primary election on April 19. “Cruz is the one who went against helping us Sandy victims,” said Ieuan Hall, a 49-year-old retiree from Queens who said he is living in a storm-damaged home that still lacks heat. “We need someone in there that’s going to be there to help the people, not hurt the people.”

“He’s not for them helping us,” said Kenneth Campbell, a 53-year-old Queens contractor who is still rebuilt his two-family home, about Mr. Cruz. “It’s going on two years now and I’m not fully back.”

Enough of the “Superstorm Sandy” crap. It was tropical storm for Pete’s sake.

50 years of democrat rule caused more of the damage than that poot in whirlwind.

As they say ‘payback is a b.” Can Cruz make it any easier for trump to get 50 +1? I am glad Cruz is getting crap finally. He’s had it easy for a year.

Now we know how bad the smile looks. This brilliant man, as we’re told over and over, seems to not understand smiling is a SLAM.

TRUMP, “I will not forget you.” “I do cherish you.” Now that’s coming from a very brilliant man who cares.

So why didn’t Cruz vote against the bill and at the same time submit a bill for loans with no pork included in it?

Cruz supported BLM and other thugs and made that very clear in Chicago. Heidi is campaigning. She’s fair game.

YEAH!!!!! That guy who stood up trying to defund Obamacare and the illegal invasion, who tried to get the Senate to reject all Obama’s Communist judges, and who has defended Constitutional government at every turn, must be trashed. GET HIM!!!!!

It wasn’t a hurricane so they renamed it a superstorm. We have idiots that build houses in flood zones around here. Darwin takes care of these things.

If you believe that Ted voted against the bill BECAUSE HE DIDN’T WANT PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR HOMES TO GET HELP, there is no hope for you.

This is not my father's Columbia J-School.

(Also, Superstorm Sandy's storm surge hit New York City on October 29, 2012 -- 3 1/2 years ago. It's not Sister Mary's 3rd grade Arithmetic class, either.)

Ah Hurricane Sandy. Fat boy Christie kissed Obama’s ring and got him reelected and NY and NJ swung toward Obama (the vast majority of states swung against him). Damn those fiscal conservative bastards who won’t vote for bloated spending bills.

Oh please. I lived through Sandy. Yes, the damage was utterly devastating to New York and the Jersey Shore. No question about that. But there were also people who did not have adequate insurance who have houses along the water nor did they properly prepare by having food, water, generator, flashlights, gas, and evacuate their home if necessary. I hate to sound cold, but I overinsured my home to protect me in the event of catastrophic damage i.e, a tree falling through the house, have a generator, had plenty of food and water, and gas and managed to live 8 days without electricity, a land line telephone and internet access.

I have heard these same people MF Cruz about the Zadrega Act which was also filled with billions in pork. This is what the liberals do. They pack these bills with so much crap that has nothing to do with the issue at hand that when a fiscal conservative votes against it because it is filled with crap, they can be attacked for hating the 9-11 responders or hating the people who had homes destroyed on the Shore or elsewhere. This is a crappy thing to do.

On the flip side, there are some things that the federal government should pay for. Since New York and New Jersey are large contributors to the federal government’s coffers through tax revenues, it is only logical that the feds need to help restore those devastated areas to what they were. The Jersey Shore is a huge revenue maker. The devastation to New York’s subways was crippling. Rather than building a bridge to nowhere in Alaska, the feds can give New York and New Jersey money to rebuild its infrastructure. Not to give EBT cards to the sorry sacks of shit, but get the area back to being able to generate revenue.

If you choose to have a house on the beach in an area prone to hurricanes, like Florida, you should make sure that you purchase adequate insurance to be able to repair or replace the damage should a storm hit. Don’t come looking to me to pay for your house because you did not have any insurance. I believe strongly in personal responsibility.

This is certainly the election of misinformation and propaganda. I think Goebels would be proud of the bs that we hear every day. November cannot come soon enough.

Cruz did his job. It was the politicians who loaded the bill up with pork that didn't.

So Cruz denied the help to people in need but is okay wasting money on HEAD Start. Mmmmkay, got it.

The problem is Cruz was making a point at the expense of the victims. We waited a long time for relief similar like they got in Texas from Katrina. Yes there was Pork in the bill, but which one doesn’t contain it? The Republicans controlled the house and I thought we would get the help when we needed it. Once it finally did pass, people are still waiting years for help on rebuilding.

I read somewhere on this thread that people shouldn’t be looking for a handout. I guess helping Europe or Arab countries with my tax money is ok in Cruz’s book. But don’t help a fellow American? America First - Always.

PS: The bill that finally passed didn’t even include the tax deduction removal of the limits on casualty loss of personal-use property (i.e. 10 percent of their adjusted gross income before you can claim). It was eliminated for Katrina, Rita and Wilma victims but not Sandy. Oh did I mention that he wanted and voted for emergency relief for he flooding victims in Texas in 2015.

In the case of natural disasters, it is the right thing to do. There is even an arguement that it is constitutional,

And I will admit, that these bills are loaded to the dam hilt with crap outside of the issue. But they can build the bill to specify the issue, which they did not, nor never do.

Ok Cruz supporter. Heidi is going out and campaigning for her husband. I think people call that fair game. If you campaign for something or someone you are open to all the applause and protests.
