He’s stealing votes by going around and subtly putting his delegates instead of Trump’s delegates so they’ll abandon Trump after the first ballot - even though he won those delegates fair and square. It may not be illegal, but it’s very unethical and shady. Cruz wouldn’t want someone to d that to his delegates. It’s just a high tech form of stealing. Ted Cruz has repeatedly shown that he loves to operate in the gray area and to even be sleazy.
Nothing subtle about it. This is how the game is played. Since Trump chooses to abstain, Cruz has no choice. If Cruz doesn't act, then the GOPe assigns those delegates by default. Cruz is the only one here fighting to make sure the GOPe doesn't steal this convention while Trump does nothing.
