Officers do not train and mentor. NCOs do that. An officer “Mentoring” a young enlisted soldier is called something else.

Exactly, and if the truth be told these brand new officers, if worth spit, will be listening to their senior NCOs.

This. Cannot be stressed enough.

In fact, a good NCO knows that his role is also to train an mentor “his” officer (PL, Co Cdr)...

A good officer knows this, and relies heavily on the counsel of his NCO’s, who often have years of experience under their reflective belts...

This will not work, and if this spokesperson truly believes these statements, he/she/it are either ignorant or criminally negligible.

But...what do I know of such things.
