NBA keeps 2017 All-Star Game in North Carolina for now despite 'anti-LGBT' law

The NBA said Friday it is not currently planning to move the 2017 All-Star Game out of Charlotte, North Carolina, despite the state's anti-LGBT "bathroom law."
.
.
.
The law, which took effect in March, prevents cities in North Carolina from creating non-discrimination policies based on gender identity. (The law was enacted after Charlotte passed such an ordinance.) It also mandates that students in state schools use the bathroom that corresponds with the gender on their birth certificate.
.
.
.
The announcement comes after six U.S. senators wrote an open letter to Silver asking him to move the game out of North Carolina.

Every NBA team that plays in an arena with seperate bathrooms should be forced to move to one that doesn’t.

Silver had previously said he’d move the game if NC did not repeal the law in thirty days.

One thing that gets me about the liberal uproar about this, is that it is described as “anti LGBT” and “rolling back rights” and other such descriptions.

This law simply reinforces what we have always understood, that men go in the men’s room, and women go in the ladies room.

How is a law which reinforces and restates existing laws and social practices, rolling back “rights” or “anti” anything????

And, how is it that liberals and the LGBT peoples have decided that the next frontier is bathroom and locker room access for people who feel like a woman trapped in a man’s body and all that??? Rather than dealing with such person’s problems, we are now saying that such person has no problems, and that the rest of society has a problem. And that society creates barriers with such concepts as the men’s room and the ladies room.

I can’t believe that we even have to be debating this. But the liberals and the LGBT mafia are forcing this issue.

When the media discuss this, I would love to ask all the women news readers, who of course are in favor of LGBT issues, if they really are personally in favor of men in their ladies room, when they personally go to the ladies room.

I'd like to see some republicans run with this. The 'rats are always going on about the GOP "War on Women". We're the ones trying to keep women and young girls safe in the privacy of their restrooms. The left wants to let God-knows-what in there with them. This transgendered bathroom nonsense is the real "war on women".

Well, to everyone who thought that the LGBT peoples would be happy with homosexual marriage, that their lives were now complete now that we have 50 state homosexual marriage, what do you think now?

This shows that the battles will never end. Now that they have homosexual marriage, now they are moving on to other items on their agenda, such as bathroom and locker room access. It never ends. Nationwide homosexual marriage did not make their lives complete, it simply moved the goal posts.

God help us all. I wonder what this country will look like in about 20 years.

WTF is this anti gay crap.

It is a bill to not let men use women bathrooms or girls changing rooms, hell even a mental midget can understand that a man is a man if there is a penis and that men use male bathrooms and women use female bathrooms.

For crying out loud this anti crap being spouted every time the ho9mosexuals and perverted cross dressers don’t get their own way.

Article does not name the Senators. I would be really curious as to who exactly they are.......

Personally, I couldn't give a **** about the NBA or what they want....

just said the same and then saw your post.

What is it that is hard to understand for these idiots.

Men use male bathrooms and women use female bathrooms, and lets not stop there.

How about a gym like the YMCA where a teen girl will use the changing room and shower only to see a 45 year old guy come into that locker room .

Yea I have a teen daughter and like hell should men use female changing rooms or locker rooms or bathrooms.

I hope all those on here who did not do a damn thing and even couldn’t have cared less now come on here and admit they were wrong and they helped the homosexual cross dressing crowd to get us where we are now.

it frigging pisses me off and yet our side still can’t defend normalcy .

Good grief 65 year man can walk into a female locker room at a gym and ten watch women and teen girls change, is that what the left wants, because our side needs to question then and mention this many times and how we are protecting females not the Dems radical wing.

The courts will eventually say yes to this and the NC governor knows that. He and the Republicans in NC needed an emotional issue for the election year and his re-election year.

Last year Governor Pat McCrory vetoed a religious freedom bill for gay marriage objectors just like Nathan Deal did in Georgia last month.

This is emotional diversion for election purposes with the courts having the final say.

If someone stood up to this mess it'd go away.

I'd be out asking if the NBA wants men to go into women's bathrooms when little girls are in there.

Put the burden of defense on them.

Houston city council pushed a similar law through a few years ago and at that time the Lezzie Mayor admitted it was all about not being allowed to discriminate against LBZTQDCES whatevers..... The Clergy, mostly black clergy, rose up against the men in bathrooms issue. Somehow, someway the locals in Houston fought it - fought the bogus charge that they didn't have enough signatures to get a vote - and eventually brought it to a vote. And won.

Lezzie McMayor tried to turn it into a racial thing instead of a lezzie thing but wasn't successful. We heard all sorts of threats of backlash....Houston still had the Final Four and still will have the SuperBowl next year.

If NC and Mississippi will just hang on, this "outrage of the week" will pass...

Is the NBA saying that lesbians and homosexuals can’t go to the restroom? I know for a fact that I’ve seen lesbians in the ladies room and homosexuals going into the men’s room. Why do they keep saying that this is an lesbian or gay issue?

No Y’s allowed in the ladies room is what I’ve been asking of elected officials. Of course, they aren’t responding to that common sense idea.

Threatening to deny service to people that they don’t approve of, because those people allow their citizens to deny service to those they don’t approve of.
