I’m sure I’m late to the party and someone else must have pointed this out but, tRump’s tariffs will also be paid by consumers and the countries upon whom these tariffs are imposed will certainly hit back on our products killing jobs while raising prices.
Economic illiteracy from Bernie’s fans I understand but, it’s rampant.
Where did this idiotic and delusion idea start that our exports aren't ALREADY subject to huge tariffs now? We are in a one sided trade war NOW with the rest of the world.

A VAT is the most regressive tax anyone could invent. Someone “lving” off of $900 per month in SS now has her inome taxed at 16% off the top for the things she purchases it. It is another way for Heidi’s GS Friends to screw the retired class.

Welfare recipients already don’t pay tax. I believe they should and should have their gifted monies looked at as income, don’t you?
How is that tax rate any different than what we have today? We have more tax taken out today than your example shows.

Actually it isn’t really a 16% tax. A VAT is a Value Added Tax, this means that at every stage of production as a value is added to X it is taxed at 16%.
Let’s say iron ore is $10.00 a ton, when sold to a user of the iron ore it is taxed at 16%. So now it’s value is $11.60. The foundry creates iron ingots that it sells for $20.00 a ton, it has to sdd the 16% tax on top of that price.
This continues on and on until the producr is sold to the end user.
Thanks for the charts. The reality of what is going on is depressing. Much of this is the result of crony capitalism. A lot of those overcompensated CEOs run Beltway bandits doing nothing for anyone except the political “elite” in DC.

That’s really sad. My dad spent a lot of time working away from home and it was hard for us. But my mother was able to stay home and raise us and my dad eventually found a job that was closer by.
