The concept of progressive tax rates is purely liberal/progressive thinking. If you believe people earning more should pay a higher rate, then that actually is a liberal notion.

Trump may not be a statesman in the conventional sense of the word, but, HST, he cares more about America than any other candidate, and will do what is right for America.

It seems funny to me how all these analysis are only concerned with “how much money do we get”.....never who they are taking it from or the hardship imposed by it. At least Trump gets something out of the hedgefund guys who currently skate and imposes NO taxes on lower income folks...and rightly states it costs more to collect the tax than it is worth.
How are they paying any tax? They don’t count their income as income and they consue relatively little compared to income...that is my complaint about the VAT...everyone has to purchase basic things to live...some people will struggle to do that...high earners, that’s nothing to them...
I am not a “tax the rich” person, but I think taxing people equally is not too much to ask.
I very much disagree with you. If you listen to many of his interviews now and in the past, read his books, you will see that he loves America very much and he loves the American people. Even 30 years ago he said he was much more comfortable with taxi cab drivers and welders than guys in a tuxedo. Judge Jeannie Perio said she has walked dowwn the street with him, prior to him being a candidate and people flocked to him. They truly love him and he them. That is not to mention all the incredibly kind things he has done...without cameras and fan fair. Trump is a genuine good guy.

Sounds like you are only making an argument in favor of ALL federal taxation being consumption based. If so, then I agree.
The income tax was invented to tax the rich. A bad and immoral plan from the beginning. Then eventually congress spent enough that you and me necessarily now are considered “the rich.”
The FairTax applies to all NEW goods and services sold at retail.
Read the legislation, please, so you can gain a real understanding of how FairTax works.
Whether you know it or not, every retail good and service purchased by an American consumer has a federal tax burden of roughly 25% built into the final sales price.
When the federal tax burden is lifted FRom the corporations and businesses that provide the goods and services American consumers purchase, those businesses and corporations will be forced, through competitive marketplace pressures, to lower their prices to remain competitive. That is the nature of our FRee enterprise system.
What I am saying is that a $100,000 house in today’s (income tax) market will be a $100,000 house, FairTax inclusive, in tomorrow’s (FairTax) market.
Likewise, your $4.95 McDonald’s hamburger meal will still be $4.95.
And, you must remember, you are paying for the house and the Mickey D’s hamburger meal with money that has not been taxed!
In the FairTax system, no taxes are paid until a retail sales transaction takes place.

Is a newly built house considered a new product but a home with a previous owner not? What about used cars? What about medical bills? Insurance?
No "FairTax" (I loathe that biased name) advocate can get around the regressive nature of a flat sales tax. Not to mention the sticker shock of a 20% or higher sales tax on almost everything. It's absolutely brutal to low income taxpayers. It will never pass, and I wouldn't want it to.
Go read the legislation and quit making unsound and unfounded comments!
I did some checking. The sales tax rate is 30%. Then there's a bizarre refund scheme where the government sends checks to everyone.

That is the point of consumption-based taxation: it should hurt everybody when the feds spend money!
Your misguided tendency to subjectively favor one group (lower income earner in this case) over any other group is what has gotten us into this horrible mess of debt.
The efforts of otherwise decent folk such as yourself to shelter millions of voters from the pain of spending is why we have so fricking much spending.
What makes matters worse is that increasing amounts of money are stolen from Peter in order to pay Paul for doing nothing. Which means those voters not only don’t have a reason to care about cutting spending, they now have a great interest in keeping it high and growing.
I see what you are saying, but if you are not favoring the lower income group you are favoring the higher income group based on how you decide to collect the tax.
In this VAT scenario a guy earning 30k a year spends most of his earnings just to live. Therefore he is paying $3,000 income tax and on top of that he is paying $4320 for VAT Tax. That is $7320 in taxes which means his taxes are 24% of his income. And at the same time a guy making 100,000 gets hit with the same 10%, so he is out $10,000, but he only spends a portion of his income on things that allow you to live, so lets say he spends the same amount, $27,000, so his Vat tax is also $4320, but the % of his income taken away in taxes is only 14%.
