North Korea bans piercings and Western-style clothing

They are already forced to wear regime-approved hairstyles, chosen from a state-sanctioned list of drab cuts.

Now North Koreans have been banned from having piercings as part of a crackdown on Western culture in the secretive regime ahead of its annual workers' conference.

The rule, which also forbids wearing Western clothing such as jeans, has reportedly focused on the North Hamgyong and Yanggang provinces.

Both areas border with China, where citizens to have easier access to information - and cultural trends - from the outside world.

The ban was uncovered by citizen journalists at Rimjin-gang, a North Korean news website supported by AsiaPress.

It is said to be part of the regime's wider attempts to eliminate capitalism from society.

The regime fiercely opposes Western culture in any form and has been known to send those guilty of "anti-socialist" behaviour to its notorious labour camps.

"A growing number of North Korean people are infatuated with Western culture," said Ishimaru Jiro, a Japanese reporter who works with citizen journalists inside the regime.

"The crackdown will continue until the end of the upcoming gathering," he added, referring to the upcoming 7th Congress of the Workers' Party.

It was also claimed that "inspection units," consisting of teenagers dedicated to leader Kim Jong-un, are prowling the streets for those who dare to break the dress code.

Uh oh - sounds like they are being prepared for a clothing shortage as well.

Now they will be hungry and naked.

College campuses already have on-site censors at all time, monitoring any form of speech and writings. What Chinese regime impose on their people is being done in U.S. campus. If unchecked, they will raise it up to the level of N. Korea. Politically correct hairstyles and dress codes will be enacted and enforced.

Actually, it’s too bad American universities can’t ban ear piercing, instead of white privilege and gay criticism.

That sort of thing will make them the guests of honor at an invitation-only party. They will entertain other guests by having their bodies torn up by AA-rounds and burnt to ashes by flame throwers.

Even Nero and Caligula had never dreamed of such an exciting spectacle.

Not all piercings are visible. Wonder how far the ‘inspection units’ are willing to go.

Hard to argue that Western clothing isn’t becoming decadent, or that piercings aren’t a good idea.

Even broken clocks are right twice a day, and this might be one of the few times the North Koreans have a good idea.

Of course we all know North Korean society is evil. Their “clothing enforcers” are more like Maoist Red Guards than like the teachers who used to check clothing in American elementary and high schools to make sure it was appropriate.
