“By contrast, Cruz is a man who seems to have received his entire political formation within the ideological hothouse of the conservative movement.”

It’s Cruz’s fault for trying to win a race?

Freaking morons!

Cruz studied the rules of the game and is trying to win under those rules. Okay. Trump has practiced how to get attention and is winning the most votes by getting attention, whether positive or negative. I’m okay with that too. May the best man win.

Another hard hitting opinion piece from this “author”

The Republican Party can recover from Donald Trump faster than you think

This guy.... is on the NeverTrump and NeverCruz bus...... He probably is a Kasich or an original Pataki supporter.

I realize that many will find this hard to swallow but Ted Cruz was not born a “Natural Born Citizen” any more than B Obama. The whole point of saying that the president needs to be a Natural Born Citizen, an appellation that only appears with regard to POTUS, is to prevent someone like oh say a Saudi prince or Vadimir Putin from having a child by an American and that child running for president. Back when the constitution was written there was a definite fear of foreign Kings and Queens trying to horn in on our republic. So a vote for Ted is a vote against the original interpretation of the constitution

it's mostly Cruz's fault.

LOL. Conservatives used to believe in competition, now some of them proudly embrace socialism. It's sickening.

The article doesn't even try to answer the obvious question. If we don't trust Trump or believe the polls telling us either Clinton or Sanders would beat him like a drum, and we know that Cruz is the modern day incarnation of Barry Goldwater but without the down home Arizona cowboy charm and nifty glasses, who's the candidate we can stomach who can win in November? Sometimes it seems those requirements, whether you're a Trumpbot or a follower of La Vera Cruz, are mutually exclusive.

John Kasich is standing up from his desk at the back of the class shouting "Me! Me!" But if anything his policies are worse than the worst suspicions about Trump. It's one thing to fake being a Conservative, but another to piss in our corn flakes at the breakfast table with everybody watching.

Assuming for a moment a deadlocked convention, what Conservative could walk out of that nicotine vapor filled room and march out with a united party? Walker? Rick Scott? Martinez?

The “delegate stealing” has nothing to do with Trump’s quest for 1,236 in primaries. Pledged delegates are pledged delegates and cannot be “stolen.” What Cruz is doing that has the Trump folks in such an uproar is making sure that the delegates who are selected to be pledged for Trump are people who will likely support him, not Trump, in any future round of voting.

With some important notes...

It used to be that many “primaries” and “caucuses” were really only straw votes. The party was expected to pick people who would feel obliged to honor their local parties’ choices, but there was no formal rule saying that had to. After Ron Paul crashed the local party system in 2012 and got his supporters to select delegates who would vote for him in spite of the straw polls, the national party passed a rule that said that if you were going to hold a vote, your delegates would be pledged to the winner of that vote.

Please note that the establishment candidate, Mitt Romney, was the ultimate beneficiary of Ron Paul’s delegate-snatching, and the delegates who passed these reforms were alarmed that Romney had had his path to victory cleared for him by Paul’s hucksterism.

Colorado and Wyoming (and North Dakota?) didn’t want their delegates bound to a candidate who was no longer viable, so they cancelled their straw polls, rather than be bound to its results.

If sCruz actually cared about America, he’d already be out of the race. He’s a slimy piece of establishment sleaze.

Well there is no shocker here.... Cruz, comes in the footsteps of his fellow Harvard Law School grad Obama... He has that same entitlement disease as does Obama. Cruz's big problem is there is NO groundswell for a Harvard Law Schooled lawyer, junior senator, Canadian Cuban, ineligible to hold the office of president... And ‘true conservatives’ will not be seduced into the lies of Ted Cruz.

The way Cruz and his supporters have been trashed by Trump and his followers I doubt it any of them would give him a vote at the convention.

Cruz is burning bridges with the voters, no way to win in November without us. It will be pretty hard for him to convince voters he is the lesser of the two evils.

He has made it clear, he doesn’t care about the will of the people and will not represent us.
