I do know the polling industry from Honors College political Science classes covering their use to control the populations. Such polls are not unique to America, Every tyrannical government of modern times has used them.

There are 2 types. One is private and used to measure. The Public ones do not measure anything, their purpose is to manipulate. They will put out some that look legit to get people paying attention to them but they earn their money when they shape public perception. Their business model is based on how effective they are at delivering the results their clients want.

Remember when Cruisers were claiming the only polls that mattered were the election results?

You’re right, he does need to step back. And he had best do it now.

“Ross Perot is the reason you got Clinton then. Donald Trump will be the reason you get Clinton now.”

No, George H.W. Bush is the reason we got Clinton then. But for his (establishment) lies, he’d have won in a landslide. Hillary would be the unknown ex-con, ex-wife of the philandering ex-governor of some hick state in cousin-marrying country. She’d be NOTHING.

What will give us Clinton NOW is a fractured Republican Party, which is an absolute guarantee if we have a contested convention. Like it or not, the guy who is a somewhat distant #2 in a political race doesn’t get to dictate terms, doesn’t get to blame #1 for losing. The reality is that both sides have to give a little, both sides have to extend the hand of friendship, to be able to unify and fight the enemy of both of them.

It is now largely Cruz’ choice whether we will have a contested convention (thought the voters may determine otherwise, though I don’t think that the odds are very great of that happening). I hope and pray that he makes the right choice, one that’s puts the short and long term interests of the country ahead of his short term interests (because he’s young and will have another shot like Nixon did, IF he plays his cards right). Regardless of your viewpoint, I urge you to pray for Cruz to make the best decision for this country (whatever that may be - I clearly have my opinion, but I am realistic enough to know that I can be wrong).

“Smart move, if the FBI hasn’t found anything actionable by now, it will never happen.”

I’m betting that they have - but that politics has all but eliminated any chance that what’s been found will mean anything.

Wrong, Ted.

If a contested election gives the election to Hillary, those candidates in second and third place...IE, YOU...are to blame.

Please don't insult our intelligence.

Bill Clinton won with 43% of the popular vote. You’re right, Perot had absolutely nothing to do with that.

Trump has attacked the establishment - and they’ve deserved it. They gave us Dole, McCain and Romney, and wanted to give us JEB. They’ve lied to us, taken our money and votes and then spit in our faces. They’re trying to do it again.

Both Cruz and Trump are running as outsiders to that establishment - and supposedly for the benefit of We The People. What kind of tragedy would it be for the 2 of them (and their supporters, the supposed beneficiaries of their campaigns) to have a fight to the death, only to allow either an establishment candidate to be inserted, or for the “winner” to be so weakened that he cannot possibly defeat Hillary?

Whether you understand it or not, Cruz and Trump supporters stand for most of the same things. We agree about 80% of the time. How much do you, or I, agree with the Dems? Lots less than 10%, I’d guess. So isn’t it better to get 80% of what you want than 10%?

The “team” isn’t the Party hacks like Priebus, it isn’t Cruz or Trump or Kasich or any other candidate - it is US. All of these other people have the necessary power and connections to come out of any crisis just fine - but we ordinary folks don’t generally have those things going for us. The Dems win, and WE lose. The party hacks will always find a cushy job.

“Bill Clinton won with 43% of the popular vote. You’re right, Perot had absolutely nothing to do with that.”

In the same way that the Establishment of the last few years created the Donald Trump campaign, so did George H.W. Bush create Ross Perot’s campaign. Had Bush not contemptuously lied to the public, Ross Perot wouldn’t have run. He had literally 90% approval ratings after the Gulf War. He was Reagan’s successor, and all that he had to do was NOT screw up, NOT lie, NOT increase taxes...and he’d have been a 2-termer with ease.

Yes, George H.W. Bush is the reason we got Clinton then.

You are close. The ones I refer to are the private ones you speak of. I have not seen them but have some knowledge from within. No specifics but some useful information.

I believe the information from whom I got it much moreso than public polls.

“Trump will steamroll over the Butcheress of Benghazi!!”

Only if there’s enough fuel in the gas tank, in the form of a largely unified Party. Based on a lot of the comments on this and other threads, that’s not looking likely.

Let’s hope and pray that Cruz is given the inspiration to make the right choice, and to do it soon.

Contrast that with Trump.

It's so true...people way not remember what you said, but they always remember how you make them feel.

My dislike for Cruz is palpable.
