Certainly disagree with Donald on this, but it is not a Federal issue.

How do you figure it is not a Federal Issue? I assure you, this will *BECOME* a Federal Issue.

You are right in saying it ought not be a Federal issue, but what ought to be and what is are often not the same thing.

Yes, this *IS* a Federal Issue, and once again, thanks to the 14th amendment.

It already IS a Fed issue:

A policy barring a transgender student from using the boys’ restrooms at his Virginia high school is discriminatory, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday.

Making this a "Federal" issue would require a further stretch even for 14th Amendment theorists. (Not that I cannot see that possibility, in their Alice In Wonderland mindset.)

But Trump will almost inevitably collide with aspects of the underlying issue, and that raises many other issues, which will require considerable thought on the part of all of us. (I have thought about them for years; but simply do not have the time to put it all down in a response that no one will read because of the length. For background, I am completely in agreement with the late David Lawrence--publisher of U.S. News--who considered the "Amendment" a disgraceful embarrassment; never validly ratified & wholly inconsistent with the warp & woof of our Constitutional theory.)
