Trump: I would change GOP platform on abortion
CNN ^ | 04/21/16 | David Wright

Posted on 04/21/2016 10:32:44 AM PDT by writer33

Donald Trump said Thursday he would change the Republican Party platform's position on abortion to include exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother.

Trump made the remarks during a town hall on the "Today" show on NBC on Thursday morning when host Savannah Guthrie asked him about abortion exceptions.

"The Republican platform every four years has a provision that states that the right of the unborn child should not be infringed," Guthrie said. "And it makes no exceptions for rape, for incest, for the life of the mother. Would you want to change the Republican platform to include the (abortion) exceptions that you have?"

"Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Absolutely," Trump said. "For the three exceptions, I would."

Currently, the Republican platform abortion policy reads: "We assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed."

Well what is your position with punishing the mother if abortion is illegal?

The St. Cruz supporters were horrified when Trump said that if abortion were made a crime the mother would have to be prosecuted as a criminal.

Is she guilty of murder or not?

So tell me what St. Cruz would do to end abortions as President.

Well for one thing, he would not appoint Trump’s sister, a supporter of partial birth abortion, to the Supreme Court.

Neither would Trump....he’s already confirmed this. But, thanks for pushing your false statement.

So tell me what St. Cruz would do to end abortions as President.

For one thing, he probably wouldn't have his Justice Department suing the states to overturn the abortion restriction they enacted, and would probably have them assist the states that are sued by other parties in federal court.

And if someone does so, they are guilty of murder and should be punished.

So why did the St. Cruz zealots howl in outrage when Trump said that if abortion were illegal there would be punishments for the mother?

Now they are screaming that there should be no exceptions to abortions because the baby is human.

But there should be no punishment to the mother for killing it if abortion is illegal?

Yes, people forget that. And the fact that he signed the Mulford Act that banned open carry in CA. As governor he was neither pro life or pro 2A.

Everyone involved should be charged with conspiracy to commit murder. The mother should be charged with soliciting a murder, as should anyone who pays for it. The abortionist should be charged with murder. Any ‘assistant’ at at the abortion facility should be charged with accessory before and after the fact. All of these charges are felonies; in some States they are capital offenses.

My position is radical; it has never been the law in these United States. It is, however, consistent.

The key issue for any Supreme Court judge is his adherence to the original intent of the Constitution.

Exactly!

We are fighting for the nation's survival.

No President can do anything about abortion or sexual perversions.

The failure isn't the President, the failure is in the churches who don't have the guts to preach the truth!

Not really.

Cruz has not said or done anything that I disagree with.

Nothing that I need to defend or make excuses for.

Nothing that goes against my previously held values.

When he does, I’ll get back to you.

Some battles are NOT worth fighting at the moment! Trump is smart with this one. The ONLY people who make this an issue, now, will be from the right. This is the typical tactic used by the MSM in EVERY general election cycle to paint Republicans as some kind of out of touch old foogies with the “current” culture! Keep your eye on the prize and DON’T give them ammunition!! Say, “yeah, yeah, whatever, sure its fine, blah blah....” and MOVE ON to other battles! Otherwise you’ll get bogged down in their trap! If Trump had said (what EVERY other “R” was expected to say)...”No, I’m strictly opposed to it and gay marriage is unnatural, God never meant for this, etc...” They- the MSM- would be hammering him FOR WEEKS! Look what happened when he said what he did when they asked him about jailing women for having “illegal” abortions! Keep your eye on the PRIZE and be nimble and out maneuver your opponents (in this case its the WHOLE MSM)!!!

>>No, everything starts with the blessing of God, or the lack of it. Those who build us a wall build it in vain, if God is not in it. There is no protection from personal moral corruption. God is not mocked. A nation that slaughters its unborn children, then does a calculus of lesser evils to justify continuing the slaughter, “that good may come if it,” is dealing in the perversion of justice, and may rightly expect to feel the hammer of God.

No nation, after the dissolution of Israel in the first century will have God’s blessing. Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit have made peace with God into an individual thing. A wall will stop people from passing through the space that the wall occupies. That is physics and the world is bound by physics.

“The nation” does not slaughter unborn children. That is done by individual humans and each abortion is on their conscience and on their soul.

A leader...even a so-called Godly Leader...will not bring America or any nation back to God. Jesus knows who is his. This is what Matthew 24:40-41 is really talking about. There is no group salvation or sanctification. We are lazy. We want to be saved as a nation, when in reality, we are saved as an individual so that one may be taken while the one next to him is not.

Don’t look to leaders. Be the light that shines for those who are in close proximity to you. Through Christ, all is forgiven!

And so the pro-life position is that there is a child in the womb, and yet, if the mother kills it, they don't want to punish the mother for murder.

But then they get upset about having exceptions for abortions.

I don’t support Cruz, so you’re barking up the wrong tree.

I’ve helped draft legislation that treats abortion as being exactly what it is in fact: premeditated, first-degree murder.

Yes, thank you! That’s even worse. Not sure how anyone who states they are pro-life can support this man.
