You, smartie, you! In checking it out, I’ve found that I’ve comflated two competing shows and, indeed, the Tubman show was The Great Adventure! As was my other favorite, The Henry Bergh Story (the founder of the ASPCA) starring Brian Keith. I’ll never forget the image of Keith bringing a poor child in his arms through a door as the camera did a closeup. Wow! It seems to me that Profiles in Courage focused in on our Founding Fathers and The Great Adventure focused in on less famous but equally brave Americans. This was when both Dems and Reps loved America.

I must say, I laughed at your description of your father banning any JFK show from your household. Sounds like my mother although I happily watched that show as a six or seven year old.

In the 70s, Cecily Tyson did a very good tv movie about Harriet. A very exciting story and a very fascinating woman.
