When I went to boot camp one of the recruits call another black recruit a boy. The black recruit came unglued. I did not understand why he did. Months later I found out it was considered a racial slur.
I just dont understand all the names that upset everybody. Seems to many people are upset over trivial things. I didnt even make the connection between raccoon and coon at first. Guess I should figure out all these different offensive words.

I didn’t connect the two - I doubt he meant that to be racial but I see it now,
I went and read Wikipedia about the etymology of racist slurs. Coon is on the list but the etymology has nothing at all to do with raccoons. I still understand many might think Paladin was using raccoon as coon, but just saying the term coon as a racial slur is not from raccoon, eg the animals in the basement.
Yes, the NPR people, Democrats, Socialists, Communists, and Marxists are all on the same page. They are accustom to telling you what to think, when to be offended, like you have no brain or ability to decide for yourself. There is no "we report, you decide" for people of that ilk.
NPR is smooth and snide in their gentle brainwashing. Listeners kind of like that because they do not think much of what NPR does not talk about, that is, the real issues, the real context, the facts of the matter, etc.
Borders, language, culture, the downside of illegal immigration (crime, murder, mayhem), cost to taxpayers, abortion, the spread of Sharia Law, making health and safety a second priority in government policies in connection with homosexual behavior, diseases borne by illegals and legal immigrants, etc.
As a result, Western civilization, as we know it, is on the way out.
Many here do the same thing when it comes to trying to smear Trump - they have no idea how similar they are to those who become sobbing heaps of rotting flesh when they see trump's name chalked on college grounds - or who decide that "raccoon" has "coon" in it so it must be racist - who is the racist one; the one who uses a whole word properly or the one who parses the word to get to twist it into a potentially racist word?
I used to have a Red Coon Hound (Redbone Coonhound) as a pet - perhaps the breed should be terminated because it has even more potential uses to the racism-obsessed minds....
