Trump schedules foreign policy speech in D.C. next week
Washington Examiner ^ | 4/21/16 | Gabby Morrongiello

Donald Trump told thousands of voters in Harrisburg, Pa., Thursday night he isn't quite ready to be "presidential," but said he'd get there next week in time for a major foreign policy speech in the nation's capital.

Trump will discuss the U.S. economy as it relates to national security during a speech next Wednesday at the National Press Club, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The billionaire is also considering hiring a speechwriter to assist him with several major speeches his campaign has planned in the coming months. Much like the rest of Trump's newest hires, the speechwriter will reportedly be based in Trump's soon-to-open campaign office near Capitol Hill.

Trump's attempt to lay out a detailed foreign policy vision will come just over a month after he delivered the first serious speech of his campaign at the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee policy conference in Washington, D.C.

The billionaire candidate, whose supporters have grown fond of his unfiltered speaking style, was mocked for having used a teleprompter then, after repeatedly criticizing President Obama and others for their reliance on scripted remarks.

In addition to his upcoming foreign policy speech, the Journal reported that Trump is also working on a speech that focuses on his immigration plan, including his proposal to build a wall along the Southern border, which many question, as well as a separate speech on education.

Earlier Thursday, Trump's chief campaign strategist Paul Manafort told Republican National Committee members that Trump will begin to run a more traditional campaign leading up to the convention in July.

"He's told Rick [Wiley] and I that he's willing to spend what's necessary to finish this out. That's a big statement from him," Manafort said of Trump, according to those present at the RNC's spring meeting in Hollywood, Fla.

"The negatives will come down, the image is going to change, but Clinton is still going to be 'Crooked Hillary,' and that's what you're going to be seeing a lot more of," he added.

“The negatives will come down, the image is going to change, but Clinton is still going to be ‘Crooked Hillary,’ and that’s what you’re going to be seeing a lot more Of.”

Love this. Who else does this? I am sick of people kissing the rear of people who should be in prison.

I like the way you said that. What really helps me is how I realized this election cycle that I was screwed in the past by the people I voted for whom I THOUGHT would govern as conservatives. The image of a wolf wearing a sheep skin over his head while being a wolf underneath (like George Bush) makes me realize that we conservatives get fooled too often.

George Bush wasn’t a liberal under his conservative cloak; he was part of a global Slavery Lite cabal. I believe he was a genuine Christian. But it didn’t matter. He governed according to the oligarchy that brung him.

It doesn’t matter if a candidate is a LIBERAL or a CONSERVATIVE if they are going to govern according to who paid for their run.

“Trump's position on abortion is the same as Reagan's.”

It's not. Geez - does anyone even read about Reagan anymore?

Reagan was never FOR abortion and no, the 1967 CA bill didn't mean he was. He was for life.....all aspects. And he carried that mantle for his life after admitting to the mistake of the 1967 bill. He never advocated for abortion and he certainly did not accept partial birth as Trump did.

As far as taxes go, ever wonder why your boy is the only one on the GOP side advocating for a progressive system? Think it's because he wants the ability to raise taxes when he wants.....on anyone?

BTW - all those rats you refer to, your boy has kicked into their coffers for decades.....with the sole reason being to make himself rich. Include him in with those “damn rich republicans.”

Most posters here on FR who use the Reagan mantle are simply con artists and liars tying to hide who they really are.

I have no idea if you are one of them.

If you are one of those con artists, you should stop here, I don’t want to be casting pearls before swine.

++++

However, I do know that the Trump Agenda is far more ambitious than anything Reagan had, in large part because the situation today is far more dire than it was in 1980.

We face everything Reagan did, and far more.

By way of one example, Reagan was able to grant amnesty to millions and still the country held together.

Reagan’s methods won’t work today.

Today it takes a strong leader with communication and persuasion qualities to take on the huge task of expelling the invaders, keep the public on his side, and at the same time fix all the things Reagan did.

If you are who you claim to be, 4 years from now you will be a strong supporter of Trump who votes for his reelection.

Seriously? I cannot recall ever hearing a leader speak like this in the past. What are people thinking?

“I will become Presidential”

Trump has explained this many times. It’s good. Interviewers have asked him why isn’t Serious Like A Wooden Tree Presidential, why he jokes and calls names. He answers that he has lived in high circles all his life and he knows decorum extremely well. But that in this campaign it is time for powerful truths and time to get the people’s attention. He tells people not to worry, he can do the polite decorum which is “presidential” later.

Remember that, contrasted with Europe, we (and Australia too a little) DITCHED THE BLOODY DECORUM to become an independent land, a people with self-reliance, hardy, strong, real.

Remember that even people who grew up in hardscrabble lives can fake decorum when needed as leaders later in life. Don’t worry so much about frippery.

Knock if off. You are putting Trump on equal footing as Reagan and the man has yet to accomplish or promote one thing that hasn't directly benefited himself.

The con is the notion that Trump is anywhere near Reagan in scope, intelligence or policy.

Reagan carried forward the ideals of Goldwater and actually employed them to make the country and the world better.

The Trump “agenda” isn't his original thought. He's not the first one to come up with the wall, or strengthen the military, or fix the VA. Only drones think this guy is second coming.

Then, he shows his liberal slip on abortion or bathrooms or taxes and the 5th Ave. crowd ignores it.

I claim only to be a Conservative. You obviously are not and Trump definitely is not.

The thing I keep in mind is that I have ONE Lord and Savior. No politician fits that description nor can any politician do so. Politicians are hired by me and fired by me. They need to do the jobs that I hired them for. No more, no less. When I keep that in mind, a lot of idolatry falls by the wayside.

Trump is NOT on equal footing with Reagan, and I said as much, so knock it off yourself.

History will judge him to be far greater than Reagan.

And, unless you are a fake, you will be eagerly voting for him in 2020.

Although you will have to lie to your grandkids about your 2016 vote, or they will being wondering how you could be so blind.

“Even greater than Reagan.” - Ahh yes, you have already branded him better than Reagan. Apologies, I completely missed the asinine in your post.

How do you expect anyone to take you seriously?

I'll vote for Trump if I have to. Just like I did McCain and Romney, two other moderate/liberal Republicans.

Then, you and I can lament about president Hillary Clinton.

Is the LBGT bathroom approval in there? Or punishing women for abortions? How about his rejection of Scalia’s Affirmative Action dissent without even reading it? What about more Hb-1s, or STEM, or Hb-1 or whatever he meant? Does it list how many people are actually dying in the streets so he can promote Universal health care? What about how the Federal gov’t can handle state land better than the states?
