How about background checks and waiting periods. I mean it works so well for guns...

Forget the insanity of arming Salafist rebels with anything, which is, per se, giving material support to terrorism. But Turkey, KSA, and psychopathic Western intelligence officers should all be charged as accessories to mass murder when the first passenger jet is shot out of the sky. It will be a reoccurring theme and will end int’l air travel as we know it.

How about one that blows up in their face the second they pull the trigger?

They already have those... both electronic and chemical.

Non-electronic chemical timers are hard to pick up with mine detectors... any electronics inside makes for much easier detection.

Crude but similar chemical timers were placed aboard ships by saboteurs who were loading allied ships...usually incendiary devices designed to detonate in a few days..

The mines of course would not have a timer to cause detonation but to destroy a tiny part inside and prevent detonation after a time.

“raising fears that such weapons could fall into the hands of extremist groups”

Huh? OH I get it. If you GIVE it to them, it’s okay. If it FALLS into their hands, that’s not okay. Got it. Was confused by the PC pretzel logic there for a sec.

This is probably just me, but if you can’t trust someone with an anti-aircraft missile..... forever....... maybe you shouldn’t just give them an anti-aircraft missile. I’m kind of a free thinker that way

I'm not sure why you don't trust terrorists. Obama trusts them, and he's working as hard to protect America as he ever has. If the warmup cycle for a missile had a checkbox like the user agreement when you install software, that would be legally binding. "By pressing "ACCEPT", I agree not to reverse engineer this missile or circumvent the anti-misuse features." Isn't that enough?

First they’ll be declared safe which will lead to an unprecedented flooding of the zone wih these missiles. Then some dude in his basement will hack the firmware and sell the hack to Achmed for $10K. Then they’ll be everywhere.

McCain may not make it this election.

Problem is that his replacement will cooperate happily with Hillary Clinton.

Fuck the Syrian rebels. Look what Assad was up against. No wonder he ran a security state. You think it wouldn’t (won’t) happen here?

“Then some dude in his basement will hack the firmware and sell the hack to Achmed for $10K. “

I watched a hacker now working for Microsoft giving a lecture. He asked owners of the new chipped credit cards to come onstage. He pointed a device at them and told them their names and other information. He read the chipped cards. He said, “the problem is, you give a cell phone to a person and they say, ‘cool, I can make a call.’ But you give a cell phone to a hacker he says, ‘I wonder what else I can make it do?’” They didn’t consult any hackers when they came up with this new security feature. With the resources of the Jihad, it would be a matter of time before any security feature was disabled.

When I was a kid I read in the paper that Miami had put devices on all traffic lights so that city busses and emergency vehicles could press a button and turn the light green in their direction of travel. I rolled my eyes thinking that wouldn’t last long. Less than two weeks later they had shut the system off because of the number or accidents caused by illegal devices made and sold to turn the lights green. It was shear government lunacy to think such a system could work for long.

Unfortunately, people in political power are generally technical idiots. Look at Hillary’s bizarre explanations for why she had a private server so she wouldn’t need to carry two devices for an example. (Seriously, did she not vet her response with a twelve year old?)
