What’s worse, than the gross negligence in spending versus the disastrous return on investment (in the test scores) which is abysmal at best... is the brainwashing and propagandizing that takes place at the hands of leftist administrators, and leftist teachers, at all levels of education. The supplanting of the parent’s role with surrogates. The erasure of patriotism and citizenship. The decades of damage done to our youth, in rotting their minds with the constant pushing of sexual permissiveness, and moral decay, that- is the true cost we’ve paid as a passive society in “educating” our children.

Getting rid of Common Core will be a good step forward but it will be a "long haul" cleansing the educational system of the liberal/socialist effects over the past 4 plus decades......

My common core story:

I helped my son last year with his English handouts (5th grade) and they had to read a story and answer questions. The stories were MORONIC. With zero values. Some had a “feel good” ending. Most were just dumb. The questions were leading, and always there was one that asked for too much personal info. (Ex: “Can you think of a time when you struggled with a secret? Tell that story.” Crap like that.)

Later, more recently, I was searching for writing jobs and came across a writing “mill” where they were collecting these “educational” stories. Found out that is where common core curricula get their stories! Just from milling them out to people earning pennies a word.

We used to learn English with sentences or essays from famous writers. Or great moral arguments or even the opposite, for learning purposes (like Lord of the Flies, Animal Farm, etc). Common core is really a joke.
