Peter King: Trump is ‘more reasonable’ than 'hopeless' Cruz
Politico ^ | 4/22/16 | Nolan D. McCaskill

Peter King on Friday said he would back Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump over Ted Cruz, highlighting the billionaire as a more reasonable general-election candidate than the “phony,” “hopeless,” “irredeemable” Texas senator.

King voted for Ohio Gov. John Kasich in New York’s primary, though he also correctly predicted that Trump would score a big victory in the state Tuesday. Similarly to the way he shied away from characterizing his vote as a Kasich endorsement, King stressed Friday that he isn’t endorsing Trump but remarked that he would choose the real estate mogul over Cruz.

“But Donald Trump, to be an effective candidate in the general election, has to show substance,” King told CNN. “He has to show that he's gone just beyond, you know, the name-calling and the sound bites and, again, he's not my first choice for candidate but he's got to show that he knows what he's talking about.”

Uh Oh.
King comes out for Trump?
Peter King comes out for Trump?
Peter King of New York comes out for Trump?

I may have to reassess my thoughts on this.

There are a lot of liberal NY Republicans lining up for Trump in the face of Ted Cruz as the alternative.

But keep in mind that the liberal ‘silk stocking’ Wall Street Manhattan Republicans voted for John Kasich and if they could really have their way, it would be him.

But going into the convention many seem a bit pragmatic like King.

Slipping on the Peter King decoder ring, "Yes, my candidate is vulgar, reckless, and clueless on the issues, but he's instinctively liberal and that Cruz is so rigidly conservative ... I mean, for a good New Yorker, that's no choice at all!"

Projection is an ugly thing as you engage in the ultimate exercise in futility.. Supporting this LOSER.
I began supporting the guy but he’s such a disgusting and vile man that I couldn’t live with myself if I voted for him. It’s not that Trump is GREAT.. It’s just that Lying Ted is THAT BAD.
Some people are just stuck on stupid though.. Good luck with that.

Peter King is generally pro gun control (he did vote against suing gun manufacturers), pro amnesty and overall fairly liberal. His stance on taxes is decent but not fantastic.

His big claim to fame is his rightward stance on National Security. That is pretty much it.

He is about the best one can hope for from a NY/NYC metro area Republican. In other words he stinks but a little bit less than his democrat counterpart.

He is a loudmouth and fairly obnoxious. living within the NYC media market, I have to suffer him on tv and radio a lot.

His hatred of Cruz should be a badge of honor for the Senator. Having Peter King like you generally says you are pretty squishy on Conservative issues.

I don’t know if his estimate of Trump is accurate or not (although I tend to think so since Mr. Trump is definitely not a Conservative ideologue) but King and others like him seem to think they could sway Mr Trump to their positions on a number of issues. That is alarming.

King didn’t say he’s for Trump. He said he’s for anyone but Cruz. Understandable for anyone in NY who wants to get re-elected.

Cruz is so disliked by those that work with him that I doubt he could be an effective leader. He does a lot of grandstanding but has been mostly ineffective.

Also, if you think shutting the government down is truly a good idea, how about making sure you have a little support for it first? He never did that. He was ineffective in getting support. In fact, it turned out to be a political win for Obama.

Even some of them "liberal Republicans" know that the WH is the goal and that Hillary would be a real disaster after 8 years of Obama. Some of the "staunch Conservatives" seem OK with letting Hillary in because they opted to stick with their "principles" instead of going for the win. I can't wait for trump to go after Hillary when he has nothing left to do but take her down - he'll talk in our language instead of lecturing us like a PHD professor.

"I can't wait for trump to go after Hillary when he has nothing left to do but take her down - he'll talk in our language instead of lecturing us like a PHD professor."

The media loved it when Trump was "going after" Republicans, and they lovingly amplified his attacks. Just wait until he "goes after" their sacred cow, Hillary. You will see the greatest cacophony of anti-Trump howling since Hurricane Sandy blew through NYC. Now matter what "language" he speaks, it will be drowned out.

FRumpsters heart T.E.A Party hater, Peter King.

All day yesterday they were supporting the LGTB in it's wildy unpopular demand for 'male access to female restrooms & locker-rooms.'

But Hey, they'll tell you right away, we know Donald isn't a Conservative while they lie and slander the only real Conservative left in the race.
