I happen to disagree with Lewis on one point, though. As the behaviour of Cruz towards Trump has shown, it holds in this campaign as well: Cruz resents his inferiority to Trump.

Since we're committed to defeating the Hildebeast, shouldn't there be a total cease-fire? Otherwise, we risk alienating more and more Cruz supporters past the point where they'd be willing to forgive and forget and vote for Trump in November.

I read this with deep regret. I have been a part of FR for over 16 years; I was first invited here by a Keyes campaign staffer in 1999. I was here for SoreLoserman. I followed the events of 9/11 largely here on FR. I remember the DC sniper threads, Rathergate, and so much more here. And now the founder of the site says I’m no longer welcome because I cannot support a sociopathic, narcissistic, pro-abortion, pro-tax-increase, imbecilic liberal, because that liberal has put an “R” next to his name and is hated by a few of the same people who hate conservatives.
It has been noted that Trump tends to corrupt anything that comes near him. I see that FR is not exempt from this rule.
You are correct that we cannot secure the blessings of liberty under a president Hillary Clinton. But it is at least equally true that we cannot do so under a president Donald Trump.
It seems to me that all arguments of the sort you have posted here concentrate on how terrible Hillary is. I agree. But these posts never really seem to defend Trump - because he is indefensible. The closest it ever gets is to say that he’s “anti-establishment.” That may or may not be true. But if it is true, he is a far worse threat to our liberties than the establishment has ever been.
As Alexander Hamilton said, “If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures.”
Jim, you have every right to do with your site as you see fit. But in this case, it makes me very sad.

We intend to do all we possibly can to prevent the treasonous Clintons from regaining entry into the White House and that requires we give 100% of our support to whomever emerges from the coming convention as our nominee. Politics aside, the survival of our nation is at stake.
