I would write, "Without her, man is nothing."
I was taught that it is acceptable to put a comma where one would expect the reader to pause. This is especially helpful in this case because of the ambiguity possible with the phrase "her man" along with the fact that the usage of "man" here, meaning "mankind", is an infrequent one.
When I hear blacks speak standard American English my respect for them goes up 10 times.
“They need to loose there privilege.”
Naw, dey needin too lose they’re privilege. It ain’t rite two be specktin folk too no a buncha rools.
“Breathing is racist.”
“Walking is racist.”
“Neckties are racist.”
“Blue jeans are racist.”
“Good grief, whats wrong with this world?”
Please allow me to correct your error, in reality all those things are okay except when indulged in by white people. THEN THEY BECOME RACIST!
Don’t you mean intensive Porpoises?
Well, that was a racist thing to say.
LOL
Dittos.
Spot on. I realised some time after that post that my inner “Grammar Nazi” had been off duty!
I heard about this yesterday.
The title of the video is: “Grammar snobs are patronizing, pretentious, and just plain wrong”
Should it not be: Grammar snobs are patronizing, pretentious, and just plainly wrong? After all, plainly would be an adverb modifying wrong, would it not?
(I am relatively new to being a grammar snob, so perhaps I am mistaken.)
