McConnell fires back at critics at Ky. convention

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell fired back at critics on his home turf at Saturday’s Kentucky GOP convention.

McConnell, who has been under sustained attacks from Democrats since announcing a plan to refuse to hold hearings on President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, got a standing ovation when he brought up the ongoing fight. “I got two words for you: Supreme Court,” he said, according to local reports. “This vacant seat will not be filled by this president.”

Democratic senators have hounded McConnell and GOP senators with calls for them to “do their jobs” and consider Merrick Garland’s nomination.

“People say ‘Do your job.’ Well this is my job,” McConnell said.

McConnell largely avoided wading into the fray of the Republican presidential race, but he did refute front-runner Donald Trump’s claims that the nomination process is unfair.

“One thing I want to assure you, there isn’t any insider effort that could go on to keep this from being an open and fair process,” he said.

And he also took the opportunity to bash Obama.

“As bad as Obama has been for the country, he’s been good for the Republican Party,” he said.

McConnell was elected on Saturday to attend the Republican National Convention this summer as one of Kentucky’s 25 delegates.

Sen. Yertle (RINO-KY) needs to go. The biggest “Whiskey Tango” in politics.

I'm willing to forgive McConnell A LOT of things if he keeps his word.

He said that and it wasn’t followed by a bolt of lightning?

Evidently he has. They have disagreed very little in public.

The Kentucky senator does not deserve to be a Republican delegate.

Just enough to get re elected in this State where low information votes in every election. McConnell sops up piss from the sheets of bed wetting oligarchs.
