I think you could be showing symptoms of OPCF (Obsessive Political Campaign Disorder). They include inability to go more than three hours without thinking about a particular political campaign, extreme identification with a favorite candidate and emotional animus toward his current opponent. Typical of the disorder is the involvement of emotion and imagination--positively or negatively--in forming beliefs about persons, such as political figures, whom one does not in fact know.
Onsets can be severe, but can be treated by periodic therapy consisting of a funny movie, conversation with a small child, or meditation on any passage from the New Testament concerning agitation, pride, and the virtues of temperance and charity.
The disorder tends to be seasonal in nature, and symptoms typically subside after reaching a crisis known as an election. The effects of OPCF are not usually permanent.
