I found a decent Out the Front automatic knife a few months ago while walking my dog. I think its popular with landscapers who put out pine straw and such.

Don't know what the big deal is with people having automatic knives. The ones with the assist on the blades come out just as fast.

The only advantage to the autos I can see might be in allowing for a better grip from the beginning, but many of the assisted ones really are amazingly fast opening.

I've toyed with getting a folder with an Emerson "wave" blade, but I'm not sure if I would get along with one.

They’re scary. Especially to someone who’s never had to think about defending themselves.
