Donald Trump Jr: Ted Cruz Has To Bribe Delegates To Win
CNN ^ | APRIL 24

Posted on 04/24/2016 8:38:39 AM PDT by Helicondelta

Donald Trump Jr. said that the only way Texas Sen. Ted Cruz can convince delegates to support him over his father is with bribery.

"Ted Cruz has no chance of winning this without bribing the delegates. That's his game at this point," the son of the real estate mogul told CNN's Jake Tapper in a CNN "State of the Union" interview that aired Sunday.

Trump Jr. said if his father wanted to bribe delegates he could -- and do it very well.

"He could send his private plane and send them down to Doral, they could play golf for a week and then we win that delegate. That's not the way this country should be run," Trump Jr. said.

It may come as a surprise to many, but national convention delegates usually have little real effect except to be stage props for a TV show. Also, because it costs $5k - $10k, the pool of people willing to be delegates is much smaller than most imagine.

For every delegate that might actually receive a government contract or some other reward, there are 20 or so for whom the financial balance sheet is all negative.

No one who has first hand knowledge of delegates and the process over a few election cycles believes delegates get bribed.

Ted Cruz is rounding up delegates for a second ballot.

He’s doing a very good job of that. The ridiculous and endlessly repeated fantasy that he is stealing them doesn’t hold water.

Trump needs to stop whining and go about securing the magic number ...

He won’t win on a second ballot.

You two clods are obviously trying to commit ‘suicide by mod’.

You will both ultimately meet with success.

Try not to exchange any bodily fluids when you arrive in *ZOT-HELL*.

Correction.

Cruz never said he was against a contested convention.

In fact, he is planning on one.

He said he was against the other kind of convention.

What bothers me about Cruz is that he continues to throw NY Values and Mafia arrows at Trump so he can try to scoop another 4 or 5 delegates, not realizing (or caring) that every time he does this he is insulting more and more Florida voters. Instead of stepping down after NY, he will just fill up his bag of hand grenades and continue to blow up potential voters.

Cruz supporters are going to realize what a terrible mistake it was to run this civil war deep into July. You’re going to realize that, just like his bomb throwing in the senate didn’t advance any cause, he will have destroyed any unity amongst the same “squishy Republicans, Independents and crossover Democrats he is so badly going to need in the swing states. A loss of Florida’s 29 electoral votes would require him to win WI and PA just to break even again; then carry the swing states of NC, VA,and OH.

At 8:01 on election night, because the voters he has insulted stay home, Ted Cruz will lose the great sunshine state of Florida, and with that, the election.

While you’re having a few beers to drown out the loss, you might do well to have a few shots along with it, because the GOP will lose Rubio’s Senate seat as well.

Trump will find the task of purchasing enough delegates to win much easier than Cruz will.

Trump needs to purchase fewer to win and will do so easily

Cruz knows quite well there will be no second ballot. Only the zealot hangers on still have faith

I think Ted Cruz is a good looking man. He’s not conventionally handsome but he is attractive. He is also a conservative.

It’s the ultimate irony for a Trump supporter to criticize anyone else’s looks.

“Said the son of the man who made a career buying politicians.”

And Donald Trump admits it, as if it’s something to be proud of.

Looks like the guy slipped the bill to Cruz when Cruz handed the drawing back and Cruz returned the bill. Or close up magic.
