It's insane that primaries are set up this way. The only possible reason is to ensure that the preferences of the "rank and file" are able to be discarded in favor of who the party bosses really want.

At least this way, the voter has a fighting chance. The usual way, the delegates are indirectly chosen, and the "party bosses" or "party zealots" choose delegates, without regard to the results of the primary or caucus.
