I think it was a stupid thing for him to say. I don’t really have a ready defense for him.

I abhor the transgendered bathroom issue, and Trump SOUNDED (at a minimum) like he supported it.

Some say that’s not what he meant. Well, in that case, then why did he say bruce jenner was welcome to the womens’ restrooms in Trump Tower?

I could argue that he knows Bruce, so he’d be comfortable with it and could warn everyone.

It could be my favorite uncle Diedrich, but I guarantee you that he wouldn’t get to use the ladies room in any business that I own.

Just my humble opinion. Trump should have talked to Manafort before he opened his mouth on this one. He deserves every joke that gets told about it.

Yeah. Even if he would have said it should be up to businesses, fine. At least he wouldn’t come off as endorsing laws that say businesses shouldn’t be able to choose either way.

Best case scenario is that he has never thought about it, and it was just babbling. But then that brings problems of it’s own. I mean come on, it’s not that hard.

I think Trump’s statement was just right. This whole “issue” is what someone on Fox (I forget, Tucker Carlson maybe?) last night aptly called “a solution looking for a problem”. Nobody can come up with any report of an actual incident where a transsexual entered a ladies’ bathroom.

The only reason Trump was asked the question was because leftists love to try to force Republicans to go on record about sensitive issues such as abortion, same sex marriage, transexuality, etc. They are called ‘wedge issues’ because there is no answer that will not offend one side or the other.

During the primary season, Republicans are asked these questions with the expectation that they will pander to the conservative base by taking the strictest possible conservative position, such as no abortions, no exceptions, or no same sex marriage, no accommodations for transsexuals.

Then, these statements will later be used during the general election to cast the Republican nominee as too far right, religious right, extreme, wanting the government to invade the bedroom (in this case the bathroom).

Trump avoids these traps but Cruz walks right in, trying to prove he is the most conservative, with these weird attempts at humor.

Each time Cruz thinks he scored some points with one of these exchanges, the polls show him further diminished, as people, even the most conservative, realize just how unelectable he really is.

You’ve surely overreacted. Just WHERE do you think these people have gone to the bathroom before now? This has become an issue for the “faint hearted” where no real NEW issue exists. Trump is saying businesses shouldn’t be forced to build NEW bathrooms for this tiny minority of people. It is a grossly unfair burden for businesses.
