I came to SF in '73 fresh out of college in the midwest -- couldn't believe my eyes that there was a club where you went to see "female impersonators." Like most of the in-your-face deviancy these days, it was fine back then when it was confined to back alleys and whispered about.
Finocchio's started in 1929 and in 1933 added "Drag Queens" to the show.
