That's simply not true. Ronald Reagan standing up to the Soviet Union was political - and also moral and the right thing to do. Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation was political, and morally right.
You are only tossing out this "everybody does it" mentality to cover up for Cruz and the GOP Establishment's horrible behavior and actions.
Candidates dont win presidential elections on votes alone, or very rarely, especially in a crowded field. They should be aware of this and act accordingly.
Elections (at least they used to be before all this manipulation) were about two basic things: campaigning and getting out the vote.
Trump has outperformed every candidate, in either party, at these functions. You know it, and I know it.
And I agree whole heartily with your last point.
Please allow me to clarify...
There is the “game” we call politics...and not many have a favorable opinion of it.
Then there’s policy...
Reagan’s policy was articulated and carried out well.
Obama is a disaster.
RE: GOP rules .. they’ve made it clear that it’s their party and their rules. No, I don’t like it, but can we change it? Not this election cycle anyway.
[IMO] As far as morality, this election cycle has been particularly bad, what with the situational ethics and such. That’s always been the democrats way of doing things, and at the risk of being lambasted, I’ll leave it at that.
My motives may not be what you think they are, but I won’t try to defend myself, because that rarely makes a difference anyway.
