Donald Trump's foreign policy: 'America first'
CNN ^ | 04/27/16 | Jeremy Diamond

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump on Wednesday delivered a major foreign policy speech in Washington, laying out his vision for a foreign policy that will put "America first." Trump opened his speech Wednesday vowing to "shake the rust off America's foreign policy" and said he would outline a vision for a U.S. foreign policy "that replaces randomness with purpose, ideology with strategy and chaos with peace."

He added, "My foreign policy will always put the interests of the American people and American security first." Speaking at the Mayflower Hotel as part of his campaign's efforts to cast him as a more presidential figure and appeal to Republican Party elites., he opened the speech with measured tones and relied on prepared remarks in place of the off-the-cuff style he often deploys on the campaign trail.

You can tell he doesn't like working from a teleprompter but I thought President Trump did a good job considering it's a scripted speech of the sort he's not used to giving.

It's good to hear an American President who isn't afraid to say that his number one concern is America and Americans, not the "global village" scam.

I am a Trump supporter, and I was a little concerned about his announced foreign policy speech given his light performance on the subject in the debates, but damn if he didn’t nail it!

He can’t do worse than Obama or Killary! PERIOD!

And I agree, he is probably best suited for the job, because he doesn’t have any of the “this is the way we have always done it” baggage hanging around his neck like every single Congress Critter who becomes President!

exactly right, and just as they are reeling from his 5 state sweep and realizing this guy could not only win the Presidency but help them keep majorities in Congress as well.

And then Trump will be right back on the rally circuit doing what has worked so well to eliminate competition and build the largest base of support in Republican history.

Fantastic and refreshingly simple speech. This will play quite large and bring even more to the Trump train.

I know what you are saying....But think about this...

Trump isn’t a politician...he isn’t like any other president we’ve ever had...

If the GOPe and RINO’s go against him or do not help him get things done to help America, Trump won’t shrug his shoulders and say, “Can we compromise?”

Trump will likely go on national TV and say something like, “Folks...Here is what I am trying to get done to help all of you and help America...Sen. Shmoe from____, Sen. Doe, Sne. ABC....(and he’ll continue to name personally the ones who oppose him) are doing this to stop me from helping you...”

He’ll announce them personally. Something that’s not been done...he will embarrass them before their home constituents...

Trump WILL play hardball at the Capital....

Trump has obviously found some good speech writers, who may actually be codifying his beliefs. He's also decided to use teleprompters to keep him on the mark. Unfortunately, his skills don't run to prepared speeches and teleprompters.

This was a well written speech, beginning to present much needed messages beyond "beautiful", "liar", "so much/so many", but still omitting details of just how it's going to happen. But it was delivered in a manner even worse than Obama's oft criticized teleprompter Ping-Pong.

Gotta work up some details and gotta work on speech making in lieu of rabble rousing.

Couldn’t disagree more. The delivery was methodical and easy for me to understand. Basic details were obvious to me like asking other allies to pay their fair share and at least attempt some negotiations with Russia to improve relations.

Exactly!!!!
This speech got across exactly what Trump wanted and did so without all the “practice in the mirror politispeech” that professional politicians live and breathe with....

And yet unlike Obama, Trump isn’t in front of a kindergarten class with teleprompters. This was a fine policy speech. And you want to make sure you get it right. And he’s not a seasoned politician who’s used to teleprompters. He actually has brain and he uses it when he speaks without a Teleprompter.

“No wonder the neo-con artists and their open borders toadies hate him, he wants and America First policy, and they hate the very idea of putting America and its legal citizens above the interests of foreigners.”

They want their cheap labor, and near slave wages, whether they’re imported here, or the operations move to where the people are willing to work for pennies on the dollar. It’s all about greed, and you’re absolutely correct, but I’d say they actually despise that Americans dare to call them out for their selfishness.

I disagree. If you are not going to bomb a country randomly, for example, Iraq, what details do you need? How much specifics and explanation are needed for “doing nothing”?

Once you decide to not invade a country randomly, that’s the end of the decision. No further details or specifics needed. It is done.

I’m worried about the RINO Congress Critters and all of their offshore interests!

I've been thinking about that. I think the mid-terms in 2018 will be very interesting.

We could see Trump do rallies in many many congressional districts to get rid of the "dead wood" in Congress.
