Trump wants to rebuild a strong military to be able to deter a different set of threats from those that lead to the formation of NATO. A military posture more attuned to threats from terrorist states like Iran, and rogue regimes like N Korea, and the network of Islamic terrorist groups at war with the west, and the threats from terrorists on American soil.
