The 5 people most likely to be Donald Trump’s vice president
Washington Post ^ | 4/29 | Chris Cilliza

Which begs the question: Who is he going to pick as his vice presidential nominee?

The short answer: No one knows. Trump relishes being unpredictable so trying to game out how this most unconventional of politicians will make his mind up is a bit of a guessing game. Add to that the fact that Trump's inner circle remains, largely, devoid of establishment types and you quickly get into a situation where the people talking don't know much and the people who do know aren't talking.

No one knows right now except Donald Trump.

This guy needed to meet a deadline for some kind, any kind of story, I guess.

Ernst is the only one on the list I like. As far as her being only a first term senator, so was O and nobody gave a s**t.

It’s Kacish for only one reason. This election is going to come down to the math. Hillary will win the blue states and Trump will win the red states. That leaves Ohio. And that explains why he is still in the race and not attacking Trump.

Mark my words, if Kacish doesn’t drop out after Indiana, he will be Trump’s VP. No one else can help Trump and Trump knows the GOPe can very well submarine his nomination which means there has to be a negotiation.

I know many of you are thinking if the GOPe takes the nomination from Trump, there will be hell to pay. On the other hand, all people here been saying is the GOPe wants Hillary, so what should they give a rats behind if they get hell?

Ernst is a wonderful woman and a very good Senator. She is the real deal when it comes to conservatism. No way would I pick her for running mate. Not ready for prime time. The article mentions that she is a great communicator. Not so much IMO.

I think Trump considers Katich to be a lightweight and nuttier than a fruitcake, it won’t be him.

I think he will pick Rick Scott from Florida before he goes with Kasich. Trump is garnering blue collar union workers from Ohio without the need for Kasich.

More likely, he will pick a woman to peel off some of the Hillary women voters who are not really excited about her.

Again, only Trump knows right now, all others are wild guessers, like you and I,

Yes, and O is a disaster.

Ernst is a conservative: she has THAT going for her. I would just like to see some conservatives with a bench record. :)

"I want a VP who will have the same strength, courage, and skill to pick up and the mantle that Trump will carry in his presidency. Trump will have a massive target on his back, so the nation needs someone strong should he no longer be able to serve."

oh lawd, if only it worked that way. Trump is a student of history, and he knows MailmanJr is a "warm bucket of spit" - and so does MailmanJr. I dont like Kasich but the fact that the Turtle and his cadre -hate- him gives me cause for pause vis a vis enemy of my enemy is my friend .. You add in Boner going (imo over the top and unwarranted) buttugly against Cruz and you know the Ohio Group Inc is definitely positioning Kasich for Trumps Veep ...

That could actually work! I grew up in Ca and my parents were Conservative/Libertarian types. I think Libertarians would actually flock to the ticket if Rand was on it.

Trump said he wants someone who’s been in deecee and knows the how to get bills passed, the machinery of governance. And shares his vision, and could be pres.

So Walker’s not the one.

Fantasizing is fun, but Trump’s best bet is a strongly conservative guy with credibility
among conservative Republicans who has been successful in DC but has been out of office a bit......

********************

I tend to think along those lines also. He needs someone that knows the ropes amongst the
DC power brokers and how to use them. One of the problems in DC now is how divided the
country has gotten and the legislature will just sit and do nothing when things need to be
done. To me it’s gotten almost beyond repair.
