The 5 people most likely to be Donald Trump’s vice president
Washington Post ^ | 4/29 | Chris Cilliza

Which begs the question: Who is he going to pick as his vice presidential nominee?

The short answer: No one knows. Trump relishes being unpredictable so trying to game out how this most unconventional of politicians will make his mind up is a bit of a guessing game. Add to that the fact that Trump's inner circle remains, largely, devoid of establishment types and you quickly get into a situation where the people talking don't know much and the people who do know aren't talking.

Marsha Blackburn may have a good score from the ACU...but she did vote in favor of another referendum in Puerto Rico a few years ago for possible statehood...a very bad idea. The establishment won't stop trying on that until the Puerto Ricans vote the "right" way (and give the 'Rats two more Senate seats and a few more Congressmen).

I'm afraid she might come across as a lightweight when subjected to intense media scrutiny...a rerun of the treatment Palin got, but Palin had executive experience.

If the tarnish were a little less, I would look to someone like former General David Petraeus. He knows where the bodies are buried, and he has little allegiance to the Current Regime, but a whole lot to the concept of America.

General Petraeus has been treated shabbily by both the press and by the liberal anti-Americans, with a near certainty that a very large part of the charges against him were simply fabricated, but he was in no position to refute or deny them, and certainly unable to defend himself without an awful lot being revealed that was of extremely sensitive nature.

The politics of personal destruction were well honed when they went after him.

I like Huck....

Of course, Newt would be my first choice....He's a master politician.

but maybe advisor is better, i.e., behind the scenes.

“Identity politics” is the media’s calling card and the ONLY reason someone like Hillary has a chance. It is the reason we ended up with the pathetic, incompetent President we have now. You can be as tired of it as the next guy, but if Trump doesn’t check something off the list, it will be another “rich white guys” electoral lesson. This is not the color-blind world MLK envisioned, that’s for sure.

None of those are acceptable. Trump is going to win the election on his own. His vice president choice should be someone who supports him wholeheartedly and has the ability to work as a team to move legislation through congress like Newt Gingrich or Jeff Sessions. Or someone with brass balls and a certain degree of animosity towards the corrupt Washington elites like Sarah Palin, Allen West or Jan Brewer.

Never pick someone just to think it might carry that state. That is amateur thought. It is never a good move... there are 49 other states and it never works. Think of what positions you better to win all 50 states against Hillary and more importantly be a helpful VP after you win.

No RUBIO; he isn't a NBC!

You're right about Trump, he is NOT going to be "predictable" and this list is SO predictable for some hack writer to pick. LOL

Chief of Staff definitely someone who knows where are all the bodies are buried in DC.
This is what Biden brought to Obama and why the GOP couldn’t block anything.

For VP, I’m thinking someone like Bob Noyce and assign him the task of rebuilding American Business. (yes I know he is dead)
Brilliant business mind and dreamed technology everyday.
Bob was responsible for making the USA world leaders in Semiconductors.
Japan was leading until Bob took the lead with “Semitech”
The GOP needs to throw off the mantle of the Cold War.

Love Marsha Blackburn but she has an A+ constituency. Joni Ernst with “B+” is pretty darn good for a stated carried by Dukakis in a 40 state blow-out. Lots of good people in Iowa, but also no shortage of "Sodom on the Prairie" types. She would put Iowa in play for sure and probably Wisconsin and maybe even Minnesota.

So Jeff Sessions is part of the problem?

He fits my criteria....

There are several people who come to mind that are not assimilated in the DC Borg hive....

I don’t think Ernst has been proven long enough to provide the legislative firepower he will need. Nor do I like the “identify politics” game that the Democrats play whereby you think you automatically “get women” by having a woman on the ticket (example: Sarah Palin).

I would add Scott Walker and Rand Paul to the short list, although Walker has no legislative experience he’s sure proven he knows how to get things done with the legislature. Rand Paul has a lot of good ideas and this would put him under the control of a “strong boss” and pull in now only his libertarian fans but many of his fathers.

All things considered I’d guess Rubio and Kasich are near the top of the list.

KaSICKO brings nothing to the ticket, not even Ohio.

He's too old.

When in the Congress, he belonged to a S&M/ORGY club, that was run by his BBF Gary Condit.

None of his positions agree with Trump's.

He would make people NOT want to vote for Trump.

I would like to see Giuliani remain forever outcast from the world stage.
Along with all the rest of his fellow Stonewall Veterans Association board members.
