When Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz visited Ferguson last year, he saw the still-visible signs of unrest. But he also saw promise, and in July the company announced it would open a location there and partner with a local nonprofit to create job training opportunities.

On Saturday, Ferguson’s first Starbucks will open at 10776 West Florissant Ave., the company said Friday.

If you cannot drink it. eat it, plug it in,wear it or shoot it, it has no value to a looter.Seems like the only retail store in Ferguson that was not looted during the riots was the Barnes Noble bookstore.I guess books are like kryptonite to that crowd.

Its a shame that city has been tarnished and been on a steep decline for a while. The suburb actually has many beautiful homes and a very old style downtown area.

I don’t drink much coffee, but when I do, I find their stuff too bitter. So it’s easy for me to not go in there.

I tried it twice and it was horrid.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t try to rekindle his absurd “Let’s talk about race” initiative there in Ferguson. It lasted for , what, just a few weeks elsewhere?

Let’s start the pool on the shutter date - I say Nov 1st.

I'll take 15 November. I figure there'll be post-election riots and you gotta allow time for the embers to cool.

I’m in the middle of Dunkin Donuts country up here....though I use Cumberland Farms for coffee. 99 cents any size, can’t beat that.

Ya I never understood that whole race conversation thing.

Were we supposed to discuss race relations with the cashier and hold up the line? Were we supposed to discuss race with the person behind us in line?

In all the stores that were looted by Ferguson rioters not one pair of work boots was stolen.

Back in '08, a co worker and I would arrive at our jobsite early. We'd walk about 4-5 blocks to a Starbucks, because he LOOOOOOVED Starbucks.

I walked another block to Dunkin Donuts.

I loathe Starbucks coffee and everything they stand for.

That is complete fiction. What happened was the CEO went on a holier than thou crusade lecturing people and urging them to have a "conversation about race" He opened his twitter account and recieved not worshipful allocades, but complaints. More than one person noted that there are no Starbucks in Ferguson, MO, so it is hypocritical to lecture others when they don't locate in black neighbohoods. He was shamed into building a store there.
