Rush has been phoning it in for years. How much of his show is now just him reading the news to us?
He and the other talk show hosts are just sore that they had no hand in creating the Trump juggernaut.
Bingo! You get it. It’s one of the two lessons I’ve learned this election season. We need to stop focusing on which jersey our candidate wears. The word “conservative” is but a team jersey. Even if the candidate “believes it in his heart.”
Whom does the candidate work for? Follow the money: whom does he have to pay back? This trumps his personal ideology. You can be a conservative and still be bought and paid for.
Cruz supporters are so blinded by his conservative jersey they can’t see that he will never have the freedom to govern according to it. Bush was the same.
However, Trump won’t be praising Hillary, of course. He’s going to wipe the floor with her. But I don’t think he’ll go after her age or her looks. No way.
Trump was useful in stealing thunder for Jeb, Huckabee, Paul and others. He served that purpose but remained viable which wasn’t supposed to be in the cards. Remember, Rubio was supposed to represent the new wave of candidates. There was one unexpected early casualty because of Trump. Scott Walker. He was Rush’s boy early on and before Trump.
For=from.
During the days of the fight to get NAFTA passed, he WOULD NOT SPEAK OF IT except as possibly a good thing, and denigrated anyone who might try to talk about its dangers. Since then, after it is too late, he writes of the dangers of loss of jobs, BUT NOT WHEN IT WOULD MATTER.
He was somewhat late to the party, imho, when he actually started recognizing that we were being invaded.
What he says IS brilliant so often, and I have been listening for most of the past 20 years. His obstinance about addressing NAFTA caused me to leave for a period of years. I do see him now in ways I could not see him before. I used to see him as being as honest and dispassionate and True Blue American as it’s possible to be, but now I question most of my impressions about him. Brilliant? Yes. Educational? Indeed. (I love the kid books.) Sell out? Don’t know, but right now I’m thinking its possible. I’m still not ready to believe that totally, but am now considering it.
I have not heard Rush condemn a Trump candidacy in the general election . I think some folks here are reading more into Rushs dialog than Rush is trying to convey.
There is a vocal minority of Trump supporters who seem to think that if you're not 100% on board with Trump right now, you are the enemy and open to attack in their scorched earth campaign. Donald Trump, who in all likelihood will be the nominee, needs Rush Limbaugh and people like him in the fall campaign to try and heal a divided party. It would be wise not to burn these bridges.
IIRC, Rush's defenses of Mitt Romney only came in the general election campaign. Prior to Romney getting the nomination, it seemed that Rush didn't care much for Romney. Just like in 2008, Rush had little use for McCain in the primaries but was in his corner in the general election. Rush might be leery of Trump now but he'll be in Trump's corner come the fall campaign.
Rush went whole hog for Romney 2012, just prior to the Florida primary. I remember because that is when I stopped listening to him.
Way off buddy. Rush in recent months started praising Cruz and reporting only glowing news about him. He tries to be evenhanded but it showson that he favors Cruz and won’t report negative or harmful news about him. He won’t state facts and news that might be unfavorable to Cruz. But he goes after Tru p. He reports constantly the negative news about Trump while acting like he is level headed in coverage and in his positions. But even ridicules Trump supporters and argues with Trump callers. He ignores anything that is favorable for Trump. He didn’t even talk about Trump’s big primary wins on Tuesday. The guy went on hours about Cruz winning Wisconsin. He hasn’t nailed Cruz because Rush thinks Cruz should win on second ballot. He is helping Cruz “win”. He is Cruz’s PR man along with Mark Levin, Steve Deace and Glenn Beck. He is paid off by Cruz as well.
I absolutely detested the politician Mitt Romney and everything he stood for. He was a continuation of his family's opposition to all things Goldwater and Reagan. I think that I would have been quite sensitive to Rush lending support to him and I never detected it prior to the general election when Rush supported Romney as the opposition to Obama.
I suppose that you have evidence of this, right?
Corrected for errors with my tablet keyboard.

The Daily Caller said that talk radio personalities were being paid off by the Cruz campaign or at least his establishment lackeys to report what they wanted. I think they bought off Rush since he sounds like he is working PR for Cruz. http://dailycaller.com/2016/04/08/gop-establishment-money-funding-mark-levin-glenn-beck-erick-erickson-to-attack-trump/
This one is known in our household as Some Dunce. A lot of Trump supporters are quick to call Cruz supporters "shills" while not recognizing them in their own camp. This one is every bit as far off the rails on the Trump side as Beck is on the Cruz side.
“Yes, he said we thought of him as the messiah. Ridiculous; there is only one and it is not Mr. Trump. Rush wants Cruz as the nominee. To use a Rushism: I get that. But we dont always get what we want but we often get what we need.”
I get that to. What’s so PUZZLING about Rush is that he has told us that like Trump, Cruz’s ONLY CHANCE for the nomination was to win on the first ballot, since both will be excluded on later ballots.
But now Rush is touting Cruz? It’s almost as if he is more interested in taking down Trump than about what comes next - which includes a wholesale evacuation of Trump supporters from the party, and that means DOWN-BALLOT too.
I too have stopped being a Rush, Levin listener. It’s so weird, I raised a Rush “baby”. I still listen to Hannity, but I’m tuning into Laura and a local guy, Rick Roberts. I’m just shaking my head at these developments.
I hope so. IIRC it was when Romney became the presumptive nominee, rather than the general that Rush started to back him.
Sorry, nope. I’ll express my opinion as I see fit. Insults and telling people what to do and who is off limits from criticism, doesn’t fly. Sounds like liberal thinking to me. Rush is off his game in so many ways, it isn’t the quality show I loved.
Yes, Rush idolizes lawyers. I think the intelligence of most lawyers is overrated. And a lawyer may not be able to do anything but the law, anyway.
