“So if Hillary is Trumps only opponent, what the hell is Mr. Cruz doing?”

Cruz will still be running after Trump secures the nomination and probably after Trump is sworn in a President. Cruz has lost his mind.

I think Senator Cruz has a basic immaturity. It’s almost understandable, given the context and his ambition, but it’s not forgivable.

He came up the ranks when the Tea Party was hitting it’s stride. He was considered one of the great successes of the movement. He probably figured (not unreasonably) that after eight years of Barack, the country would be hot to get a principled conservative in office to correct the course of the ship of state.

He would stick to his act, pull some stunts in the senate to get some publicity, and fasttrack his ambitions after only four years in the Senate by running for the Presidency. He’d market himself as the principled conservative in the race, read his lines, and take advantage of public angst against Obama, get his 280 electoral votes, and hope he can keep it up for four years and achieve his ambitions.

It didn’t work out that way. Republican voters were alienated from everybody in DC, particularly Republicans. He stuck to the script, convinced it would go his way. He must have been on cloud 9 after Iowa.

Then it never quite worked out. He suffered a string of losses, leading into losing big in the South (which he must have figured was his firewall). He panicked and pulled whatever seemed expedient at the moment. At this point the seams were showing and the defects were becoming apparent. He was nasty, unlikable, and increasingly considered dishonest and underhanded. Right or wrong, that image stuck.

He still figures this is his moment, and the voters are the ones in the way. He’s unhinged, I’m afraid. It’s time for an intervention. The sooner this guy is shoved from the GOP primary, and ultimately the Senate, the better.
