Depends on the degree. The purpose of college must be to give a person marketable skills for employment. Anything other than this and it is an expensive waste of time and money and the time and money is better spent elsewhere.
Most of these “educated” and “successful” people live in the whitest neighborhoods in the country. It’s easy to be liberal when you have layers and layers of insulation keeping the bad people away, because at the end of the day, every liberal is a big, fat, HYPOCRITE.
They move into a neighborhood and start demanding that the police cater to their every whim and demand. Pretty soon, anyone that isn’t white and is walking down the street, is stopped by the police. Unless he/she has a good reason to be there, they are politely escorted out of the neighborhood. Don’t believe me, go to certain neighborhoods in Atlanta-Va Highlands, Morningside, Inman Park, City of Decatur, etc.
I’m sure the same goes for Austin, SanFran, Brooklyn. The list goes on and on. White people creating their own little bubble to live in.
And then there’s this glaring example of their hypocrisy....
A result of Liar Education. Wanking in the faculty lounge or eight hour per day coffee breaks in a government office are the two natural behaviors and habitats for Leftists. And they get to define “highly educated” as anyone who has been through the indoctrination process. It’s otherwise meaningless.
certainly not anything that designs/makes things
This is nothing new. Intellectuals the world over have gone Left for over two centuries. I think the appeal to them is they figure they are smarter than everybody else and figure they are the ones who need to run their lives.
I have 3 degrees, retired from university teaching (political science) and conservative from simply observing the difference between expectation and reality expressed by students and faculty in modern higher education.
The answer is quite simple - mental rot. They are spoiled, lazy, non-producering leaches who believe they comprise a privileged class.
Intellectuals, pseudo and otherwise, gravitate towards population centers. Population centers (cities) are much more regimented and constrained, leaving only the illusion of individualism while in truth demanding herd instincts.
“Liberalism” (post-modern liberalism) is the surrender to ones feelings over discipline and rational thought. It’s much easier to feel and emote in a herd society.
Couple that with the distinct bias against any form of conservative thought in schools and it isn’t that difficult to see why lemmings are lemmings (and why we are doomed as a species).
Indoctrination and ‘in their wisdom they became fools’.
“A life of ease tends to promote weakness in will and in critical thinking.”
You nailed it! These clowns have been exempted from the rigors of real life for most of their time on earth.
No, but it looks like the shift to liberal is across the board.
And do not confuse ‘modern education’ with real education - something not practiced in the US for decades.
I don’t consider a PHD in “Gender Studies”, or “Social Activism” to be highly educated. Any four-year grad with an Engineering or Math degree is exponentially far more educated. Heck, so is any Journeyman carpenter, plumber, or mechanic.
Lol!!
The beneficiaries of the Welfare State aren’t its clients. The beneficiaries are are the providers of its goods and services. Providing the goods and services requires much more education than its clients have.
Liberalism appeals to the godless. It is what fills the vacuum in the absence of God. Liberalism is the all-knowing Self. And yes, I include any “religious” liberals you may cite in this conclusion.
Easy. The longer they’re in the education system the more liberal indoctrination they get.
A lot of correct answers posted already.
One must consider the modern day meaning of liberal and what that journey has done to not just campus culture, but society at large. For many, being liberal often means not believing in God or right/wrong as traditionally understood. That lack of a very basic core morality causes on to shift to the liberal side. Go ahead an try to be a Christian on campus, you will be immediately shunned and even asked to leave if you are too outspoken about your beliefs regarding morality.
College, no longer teaches skillsets of whatever degree the student is in pursuit of. It teaches the liberal morality that the entire village is responsible for the whole society and yet the individual is not responsible for his own decisions or bad choices in life.
The advent of “safe zones,” or ‘trigger warnings’ etc. while clearly designed to silence speech and the free exchange of ideas it also enables a state of perpetual victimhood that actually traps unwitting folks into a chronic state of failure. The failure though is that the safe zones themselves are the village entrapment zone. When a few people realize they’ve been sucked into this warped morality and try to break free from it, peer pressure is brought to bear on them in the form of shunning, violence, and “check your privilege,” re-education attempts.
There are numerous examples existing on even the most conservative of campuses. All the way down to students in near ‘riots of anger’ over conservative speakers visiting their ‘safe zone’ campus. Effectively the liberal decades have created a very closed minded individual, very intolerant individual, and a very needy or insecure individual.
Taxes are seen as ‘the village’ responsibility to pay to support the welfare of those less talented to succeed in life, essentially a form of charity. It is well documented liberals are the stingiest of those amongst society. It is because they see taxes as their obligation to the village as opposed to being a Godly moral obligation to help their fellow human.
Again, we could rant on and on, but the core of the whole matter is the debasing of God within the public square.
Jobs dependent on ripping off American taxpayers are overwhelmingly filled with PhD’s - from ‘global warming’ liars to college professors to lawyers who FIGHT FOR CRIMINALS.
I’m inexplicable.
Got a master’s degree in 1994. Consistently conservative from about 1997.
